A Model Day at Epcot — Exclusive Disney Parks Tilt-Shift Video

posted on December 3rd, 2009 by Thomas Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks

It’s ready…our next tilt-shift video is finished — and this time there are fireworks. As you know, our first video was launched to celebrate Magic Kingdom Park‘s birthday. Now, just in time for Walt Disney’s birthday on Dec. 5, we’re sharing this never-before-seen “miniature scale” look at Epcot:

Our celebration begins at Spaceship Earth at Epcot and then covers the park. Your favorite World Showcase areas are featured and there’s another special ending too.

Also, you asked and we listened. Our project champion, David Roark, manager of creative photography for Yellow Shoes Creative Group, was able to capture fireworks. This time you’ll see images of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. David did it by snapping one frame a second — using many of the same techniques from “A Model Day at Magic Kingdom Park.” Let us know what you think in the comments.

These are absolutely amazing!!!! My favorite way to “see” the parks when I’m not there! And the ending is truly magical! Thanks again to David Roark and the Yellow Shoes team!!!!

You have out done yourselves once again with this Tilt-Shift video of EPCOT Center. Too bad you couldn’t do this back when Horizons, World of Motion or Communicore were around. But again, 2 thumbs up from here.

Another brilliant creation! Please keep the Disney magic coming. You know we are clamoring for Disney Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Downtown Disney tilt shift! This so feeds why I love the little monorails, trains, and buildings we’ve accumulated as souvenirs. Oh, please post this on the Disney Parks You Tube videos. My family and friends never ceased to be amazed by the Disney magic I tote around on my iphone.

Thank you for the big grin on my face today.

Video was great! Didn’t care for music selection. Would have hoped for something more related to the park, maybe Soarin’ or Illuminations music.

I love these videos, especially Test Track and Mission Space. Looks like a new toy set. These always puts a smile on my face. Can’t wait to see the other parks.

michael from NC on December 3rd, 2009 at 4:33 pm

That is BRILLIANT. I was hoping you’d do EPCOT – my favorite park. I agree with the poster that wished we had this when Horizons, Motion, and Imagination were still there.

It’s a really beautiful film. You captured everything wonderfully and Illuminations looks great. Well done.

Great photography, but I also did not care for the music. That being said, I still loved it! Here’s hoping Disney’s Hollywood Studios is next!

Maria from São Paulo on December 3rd, 2009 at 5:48 pm

I agree with the most of the people saying the music was not quite appropriate but the job was really nice.
Congratulations! I can’t wait to be there again.

Very good, but like a few of the other people I didn’t like the music. It just doesn’t fit, the video it’s self was very well done.

This is awesome and I’ve never been to Florida. I want to make a vid like this. Oh, and I like the music… great editing. Liked how the race cars were in sync with soundtrack. available on iTunes?

deborah from FL on December 3rd, 2009 at 10:14 pm

Amazing video! I liked the music. Made me want to be there and reminded why I like Epcot. It has so many unique features! Like going worldwide in a day.

31

Terry from PA on December 3rd, 2009 at 10:22 pm

Put some Disney music, like the Illuminations soundtrack, in there instead of what you used and you’ll have people tearing up at their desks. But either way, good job!

32

Heidi from MO on December 3rd, 2009 at 10:41 pm

Love it Love it Love it!…Now I know, I even get tears during illuminations at 80x speed!

These are INCREDIBLE! Makes me so homesick for WDW. Thank you for doing these!

42

Scott on December 4th, 2009 at 8:14 am

Loved the video! Agree the music is not a great selection. There was something magical about the Magic Kingdom music, this one just isn’t somehow.

43

Scott on December 4th, 2009 at 8:22 am

An addendum to my last comment…try watching the video with the music from the Magic Kingdom video playing the background, the magic is back :)

Chuck from VA on December 4th, 2009 at 8:50 am

I just love the tilt-shift videos!! I can’t wait to see what’s coming up from DHS and AK.

Wonderful! Thank you for posting this. It’s a nice gift to see the parks when I’m stuck in chilly Minnesota. Are there any plans for putting this on your You Tube channel?

Yes, we plan to add it this week. We’ll post an update on our @DisneyParks Twitter account.

Another great job. Still don’t understand why you don’t use Disney music of some sort for the background track…

48

adda on December 4th, 2009 at 10:48 am

Thomas Smith on December 6th, 2009 at 11:41 am
