One Step Closer to Opening Captain EO

posted on December 30th, 2009 by Heather Hust Rivera, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, The Walt Disney Company

Two weeks ago on the blog we announced that Captain EO will be returning to the Disneyland Resort in February 2010.
Honey, I Shrunk The Audience

Today we have an update. “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience,” the show currently in Tomorrowland, will close January 4 so work can begin in the theater to prepare for the Captain’s return.

Check back on the Disney Parks Blog for additional updates.

Yay! I am SO excited about Captain EO!! I loved it as a kid and I really want my kids to experience it, too.
Will Disney give us a ballpark estimate of how long the “limited engagement” is?
On various message boards I’ve heard 2 months and I’ve heard 2 years.
A lot of people are changing their vacation dates just to make it to the park while Captain EO is there. I am trying to figure out if we will visit in March to make sure we don’t miss Captain EO or go in June so we can see World of Color too. We are traveling from out-of-state, so more than one trip in 2010 is, sadly, not feasible.
Would you be willing to give us a clue? Pretty please? :)

The sad thing is, as soon as Michael Jackson died, one of the first things I thought was that Disneyland needs to bring back Captain EO! I knew with all the new buzz since Michael’s death that it would drum up alot of business for Disneyland. I wish I could take the credit (and some money!) for coming up with the idea! I am excited to take my son!

Captain EO was a great show and I hated to see it leave. Glad they decided to bring it back. Will be there in April and maybe again in December of 2010. Can’t wait!

We are sooo excited that Captain EO will be brought back to Disneyland. It is an amazing performance by Michael Jackson and by far the best 3D presentation I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see it on our next visit to Disneyland!

I saw Captain Eo not long after it first opened, and it blew me away – the most exciting thing I’d ever seen at the time! Fantastic that it’s coming back – I hope to see it on my first trip back to the US (and Disneyland) in July this year. I’m excited enough to book a few nights at one of the Disney hotels! Wooo!
