Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park

Your Favorite Disney Parks Thrill Ride Is…

posted on March 22nd, 2010 by Thomas Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks

During a visit to Magic Kingdom Park with my young daughters, I realized that it’s only a matter of time before cheers for Dumbo The Flying Elephant move to a new favorite — an attraction offering white-knuckle thrills at Disney Parks. One of my favorites has always been Space Mountain and judging by your tweets, it’s still popular…but is it a favorite? We went into the parks asking, “What is your favorite thrill ride at Walt Disney World?”

Now, it’s your turn. Please let us know your favorite Disney Parks thrill ride in the comments.

Expedition Everest!!! I can ride that over and over again, never gets old! Especially since it’s so fun to try to sit in different places every time because the experience is always different going down the tracks backwards! And of course, the ride stopping at the top of the first big hill always has a wonderful view of Hollywood Studios and Epcot!

Expedition Everest is probably the best example of a thrill ride in Walt Disney World. A close second is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Kenneth from GA on March 22nd, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Expedition Everest.

4

Sarah from NY on March 22nd, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Hands down, Expedition Everest…after dark :-)

Lottie from MI on March 22nd, 2010 at 2:53 pm

From beginning to end, Expedition Everest is my absolute favorite! The attention to detail while waiting in the queue is second to none. The cars are comfortable and the ride and the view are amazing. The best part is being “attacked” at the end of the ride. It simply gets no better than Expedition Everest.

I guess I have to say Tower of Terror, but if you can include Space Mountain is the “thrill ride” category then I’m going with Space Mountain. Its a classic and still remains one of my favorite rides in the world.

My favorite Disney Thrill Ride is Space Mountain Mission 2 at Disneyland Paris, it’s the most impressive rollercoaster i’ve ever rode and I can ride it again and again and again and it’s always like the first time.

Meliza on March 22nd, 2010 at 3:13 pm

Definitely Tower of Terror at Disney’s California Adventure!!! It’s so scary but I love the adrenaline! California Screaming is a fun one as well as Maliboomer!

Mike from FL on March 22nd, 2010 at 3:15 pm

Tower of Terror (at Hollywood Studios), easily. It’s the pinnacle of Imagineering as far as I’m concerned. No other ride is as expertly themed and executed as that one (not even its clones in other parks).

Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom. It may not be the most thrilling of the thrill rides, but it is classic Disney characters blended with a log flume ride.

Rocking Rollercoaster is my favorite!

Thomas from CT on March 22nd, 2010 at 3:24 pm

Our family would break down like this:
Dad (me, I love coasters, but i love my nostalgia more…) = Space Mountain
Mom & Teen son = Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Teen daughter = Expedition Everest
5 yr old son = Test Track
3 yr old daughter = Goofy’s Barnstormer!

Thomas Smith on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Funny…great list, Thomas. Thanks.

Big Thunder Mountain in Disneyland (California) … I’m old enough to remember when it was the Mine Train through Nature’s Wonderland and the Mule Train ride. Still have a photo of me riding a mule!

14

Jennifer on March 22nd, 2010 at 3:42 pm

I’m with Rochelle on this one. The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!

Nathan from AL on March 22nd, 2010 at 3:52 pm

Expedition Everest just for the simple fact that my 5yo son rode it and loved it!!!! (but when asked if he wanted to ride it again he said no way)…a close second is Tower of Terror.

16

Laura on March 22nd, 2010 at 3:54 pm

Soarin at Epcot – really gets my blood pumping!
Tower of Terror and Hollywood Studios – makes us laugh and yell the most.

18

Luis from VA on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:02 pm

The Tower of Terror. It’s so awesome. Who knows what’s going to happen? I love that it’s a little different every time. Hands up, the best.

joe on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Rocking RollerCoaster is my favorite at WDW – Disneyland’s Space Mountain is my favorite there – the soundtracks add so much fun to the rides!

20

Lesa from AR on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:14 pm

I love Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, Mission Space in Epcot, Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom, and Tower of Tower at Hollywood Studios.

21

Mary on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:20 pm

I’m gonna have to agree with
Rochelle as well…love Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland!

22

eric on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:29 pm

At Dworld, for sure Rockin’ Roller Coaster. The Aerosmith songs make it. At Dland, Space Mountain. It was amazing when it was the halloween overlay and the rock-it mountain with the red hot chili peppers.

23

Melissa on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Tower of Terror hands down…took my 5 years to get both hands in the air, but I love it now!

24

Angela on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:39 pm

This is not an easy question to answer – I am not sure I can say just one – I love Expedition Everest, Rock’n’Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.

25

Carmen from VA on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:40 pm

California Screamin’!

26

Lauren from CT on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Test Track. It fits the bill for education and fun, the exact dream of what Epcot should be. You can go on it numerous times and it will never get old!

Thomas Smith on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:52 pm

So true! We try to ride it multiple times each visit.

27

Mary K on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:42 pm

My favorite has been “The Rock and Rolling coaster.

28

Katherine on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:43 pm

My favorite would have to be hands down ROCKIN ROLLER COASTER!!! Evertime I ride it me and my bother and my cousins always say before we shoot off that were going to make a funny face this time or peace signs or something. Then when we get off the ride and look at our picture. It just looks like a wind blow mess with our eyes closed and our hands flopping everywhere. We always get lots of laughs from the pictures.

Expidition Everest at the Animal Kingdom is awsome.

Upset I only rode once my last trip.

36

Belinda on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:59 pm

My favorites have to be Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, and Space Mountain. When I was twelve years old, I was there for the opening day of Space Mountain with my father and my sister! What an experience!

Thomas Smith on March 22nd, 2010 at 4:59 pm

Wow…opening day? Must have been an amazing experience, Belinda.

37

Brian on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Mission Space (before it was toned down for those with weak tummies)
otherwise – Rockin’ Roller Coaster

38

Shane on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Far and away rockin rollercoaster. We rode that ride 5x the last time I was there.

39

Elaine from FL on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Theres more than one ride that I just love. To begin with, Tower Of Terror, then of course Rockin Roller Coaster in MGM. Then the old time favorite Space Mountain. Just makes me want to go to the parks.

Thomas Smith on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Me too.

Stephen from VA on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Test Track

43

Sean on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:22 pm

Hands down Tower of Terror. By far the best thing Disney has done in a long, long time.

Now, if the yeti worked in Everest, it may be a different story!

44

Becky from FL on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Rock’n’Roller Coaster!!!!! The music, the “takeoff”, the black lighted neon signs, the corkscrews…need I say more????? I LOVE IT!!!!

45

Susan on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Soarin’ at Epcot, in Disney World, Florida…absolutely the very best for all of our family!

48

Becky on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:43 pm

We love everything about Disney! I guess Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, and Space Moutain are our favorites!

49

Keith on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:50 pm

When I was little, it was the 20,000 Leagues/Nautilus ride, which sadly is no more. It was so awesome and for a little kid, quite a “thrill ride”. Now it has to be the Tower of Terror.

50

Bill on March 22nd, 2010 at 5:52 pm

Its a toss up between Test Track and Space Mountain tho I do have to say they are all fun.
