The Stage is Set for World of Color

posted on April 30th, 2010 by Valarie Sukovaty, Disneyland Public Relations

It’s very exciting around Disney’s California Adventure park these days. In this video we take you inside the control booth as Walt Disney Imagineers work overnight testing lights, fire and nearly 1,200 fountains for the new nighttime spectacular “World of Color.” You’ll also see some exclusive footage from our time lapse camera and more glimpses of the show. “World of Color” is set to debut on June 11. Enjoy!

Why couldn’t I have known the opening date when I booked our trip??? We were hoping it was going to be open when we were there last week. It looks like a spectacular show! I suppose we may have to go back next year…as always :)

I am looking forward to seeing the opening show. Does anyone know what time the show will be starting? I looked at the schedule listed for that day and they list every other event and the time but not World of Color. Can it be viewed all around the water or just in the new viewing area?

Justine from SK on April 30th, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I was just in Vegas and as I always do took in the Bellagio fountain show. I am never going to be able to enjoy that show in the same way after I get a chance to see World of Color. I am really looking forward to this show!

I am doing a Career Exploration project for school on Walt Disney Imagineering. Do you know how I could learn more about it or how I can contact a current Imagineer?

Nancy from NM on May 1st, 2010 at 8:51 am

I’ve been looking forward to this for so long, even more so after I was lucky enough to see Steve Davison’s presentation at the D23 Expo. It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to actually see it. I also hope there will be a CD of the music.

Tony on May 1st, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Robert from NV on May 2nd, 2010 at 6:45 pm

I just went to Bellagio. The World of Color reminded me so much of this show! Although the Bellagio is bigger and its fountains can shoot over 300 feet taller than the World of Color’s fountains, I still think World of Color is a good show.

matt from AL on May 3rd, 2010 at 10:01 am

Pretty amazing!

Jill on May 3rd, 2010 at 1:23 pm

When we go to Disneyland this July, I really hope that we can afford to go to DCA as well, I would love to see this show! It looks amazing.

melissa on May 3rd, 2010 at 2:16 pm

Oh wow looks amazing!

Robert from NV on May 4th, 2010 at 1:14 am

How many lights are in the World of Color. I know that they have about 1,2000 nozzles, but do you have the exact number of Shooters,Oarsmen, Super Shooters, or Extreme Shooters the World of Color has. Also, what is the cost of the project? I’m doing a paper on the World of Color and would like to have a lot of facts.

Brianna on May 12th, 2010 at 6:59 pm
