Great Moments in Movie History – Featuring Minnie Mouse, R2-MK

posted on May 19th, 2010 by Thomas Smith, Editorial Content Director, Disney Parks

Last week, we shared a first look at R2-MK before you’ll be able to see for yourself at this year’s Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Today, the new droid is in action. Similar to our “forced perspective” project, we’re having a little fun. Here’s “Great Moments in Movie History” – as reenacted by Minnie Mouse and introducing R2-MK.

Did the scene ring a bell? Are you looking forward to seeing R2-MK (with Mickey Mouse-inspired colors of red, black and yellow) at Star Wars Weekends? Let us know in the comments.

Where can we meet Mickey, Minnie, and R2-MK inside DHS during the Star Wars weekends?

Yes…they’ll be making appearances at Tantive IV (next to The Great Movie Ride) Also, for the best tips on finding other Star Wars and Disney/Star Wars characters, check the information depot.

We’re really looking forward to our first Star Wars Weekends next week! I can’t wait to meet all of the characters!

Me too. More than 50 Star Wars characters will be on hand especially for Star Wars Weekends this year.

Disney CA needs Star Wars Weekends too! :-)

We can’t wait either. We’ll be there for the last day of Stars Wars Weekend. We just had a family marathon of all the Star Wars movies, so we’re exicited!

Can you tell me where some characters are other than just star wars? Like the Beast, Malificent, Mushu, and some other out of the ordinary characters. We’ve been trying to find these characters scine 2002. They can be MK, AK, Epcot, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Thanks!

I really wish I could make it down to Orlando for this. I imagine this particular celebration will be a bit poignant, given that the old ride is finally being retired.

So it was a Silver Pass that contained the message from the Princess inside the droid. Who knew
