New Spins on Classic Disney Attractions

posted on May 27th, 2010 by Dara Trujillo, Manager, Merchandise Synergy, Events, and Communication

Disney Park aficionados can agree that Space Mountain and Dumbo the Flying Elephant attractions are two of the most beloved and iconic attractions in the Parks. Whether you’re soaring at the speed of sound through space or flying high with the help of a gentle elephant with magical ears, riding these attractions is a Disney rite of passage for both the young & young at heart.

Now, through the Magic of Disney Theme Park Merchandise and K’NEX (construction and building toys), you can bring the magic of Disney home and watch as your favorite attractions come to life, with our the Space Mountain and Dumbo the Flying Elephant Building Sets! Too cool for words – you have to see how it works to believe it!

Both building sets are now available. The best place to find them will be inside Once Upon A Toy in Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World.

david from CA on May 27th, 2010 at 12:19 pm

OH Boy have to save my penny’s for this one

Cheryl on May 27th, 2010 at 12:19 pm

Will these be available for purchase outside of the parks or possibly on-line at the Disney Store? Would love to get, but we just got back and don’t have another trip planned to the park this year.

Josh on May 27th, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Oh man, I want that Space Mountain! It’s one of my favorite rides.

Steven from SC on May 27th, 2010 at 12:22 pm

How much will these cost?

Paul on May 27th, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Those look seriously awesome. Dara, can you tell us how much these products will cost in the parks?

Dara Trujillo on May 27th, 2010 at 1:57 pm

K’NEX Space Mountain retails for $229.95 & K’NEX Dumbo the Flying Elephant retails for $69.95.

These are fantastic. I have an avid toy collector, and these would be great additions. I particularly love all the old k’nex theme park attractions (like the Ferris Wheel, and Dragon Swing), so having Disney parks merge with k’nex is a match made in heaven! I wish that Disney Parks would do some work with Lego now. Any word on if this merch will be heading out west?

Dara Trujillo on May 27th, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Thanks for the kind words, Kyle. Yes, both items are available at select shops at Disneyland Resort.

Chris on May 27th, 2010 at 12:45 pm

I found a place online that sells them.
They are quite expensive though.

Cheryl on May 27th, 2010 at 1:01 pm

Chris, where did you find them? I haven’t had any luck.

Benjamin from MA on May 27th, 2010 at 1:42 pm

They didn’t have these last week when I was there. Man, did I pick the wrong week to take a trip.

jacob on May 27th, 2010 at 1:45 pm

Those are so cool!! Is there any DLR rides that might be showing up sometime?

Darci on May 27th, 2010 at 8:45 pm

this is weird whats up with disneyland

David from NC on May 28th, 2010 at 6:18 pm

Tried calling the people this moring, they had no idea what I was talking about. Rather rude too I might add.

Amanda on May 29th, 2010 at 12:40 am

My kids aren’t old enough to like these yet…but I AM! I’ll just have to keep them in the boxes until they’re old enough not to put them in their mouths, let alone help me build them.

Edward on June 2nd, 2010 at 5:50 am

Don’t think we can find them in New Zealand. Can we order??

James on June 2nd, 2010 at 8:41 pm

How large is the box (dimensions) and weight? Want to know because we’ll be flying in and want to avoid checked luggage. Alternately what would the shipping charge be back to California (roughly)? Thanks.

The Space Mountain package costs 229 at the Magic Kingdom.
I saw it at Space Mountain. I thought it was cool until I saw the price. I put it down quickly.
