Don’t Miss Out on Upcoming Events and Artist Signings at Disneyland Resort

posted on July 12th, 2010 by Michelle Harker, Merchandise Marketing & Communications Project Manager, Disneyland Resort

As you can tell from many of our recent posts, we have a lot of great things happening this month at the Disneyland Resort, and I’m so glad that I’ve been able to share my excitement with all of you. Our Merchandise Special Events team was able to share some details on some of their upcoming trunk shows, artist signings and happenings that they have “in store” for you. Here’s a quick recap so that you don’t miss out on anything.

Disneyland 55th Anniversary Merchandise

July 17 – 55th Anniversary product release, 9 – 11 am in The Disney Gallery with Dave Avanzino, Jody Daily, Kevin Kidney and Noah. Some of the great merchandise being offered includes aloha shirts and ladies tees, shown above, a ceramic classic popcorn box and cup, as well as one-of-a-kind, original and limited edition artwork. In case you missed it, be sure to check out this month’s “The Art Of” interview, featuring Kevin and Jody.

Disneyland 55th Anniversary Merchandise

July 17Disney Vault 28 will host the release of a very special collection of Dooney & Bourke handbags themed to Disneyland park’s 55th Anniversary. All I can tell you, is that they’re definitely a “must have.” Catch another post from me, later this week.

July 17 – Celebrate the 55th Anniversary with a grin from ear to ear. Several of our headwear locations will offer “premium” embroidery on a standard Mickey Mouse ear hat, which will read D 55th – July 17, 2010. This special embellishment will commemorate your visit on this historical day and create a keepsake of your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth on its 55th year. Available on this date only, so don’t miss out.

Tip: Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders, we have something special in-store for you. On July 17, 2010, receive free “basic” embroidery on ear hats, of course this only applies to day of purchases and your valid Annual Passholder I.D. will be required. And just a reminder, all basic embroidery is subject to hat writing guidelines, of course.

July 25 – Swing by D Street, where Disney Design Group artists Thomas Scott, Eric Caszatt and Lin Shih will be on hand for a special Vinylmation signing. We’re so excited to have them here. The signing will take place from 1 – 4 pm, but I won’t steal Steven’s thunder, as I know he’ll have a lot more to share with you.

If you want to find out more about any of the events I’ve mentioned above, visit www.ArtofDisneyParks.com. And if you think we have a lot going on this month … wait until you see what we have planned for August. Continue checking the blog, and I’ll keep posting as I get details.

Does “standard Mickey Mouse ear hat” mean only the black ones? Or will the embroidery be available on the 55th ears?

Michelle Harker on July 13th, 2010 at 8:04 pm

Nancy, you’ll find we are able to embroider almost any ear hat, as long as there is room and space available. But if you’re like me, you stick with the black ear hats, because they are a true classic. Please note that the “free embroidery” for Annual Passholders does not apply to the “DL 55th – July 17, 2010” embroidery option, as that is considered premium embroidery.

Too bad my annual pass is blocked out on that day. It would have been neat to check out the anniversary events and merchandise like the Dooney & Bourke handbags. I just hope those bags will still be available when I visit the park in late August. I can’t afford to purchase those bags on eBay.

Michelle Harker on July 13th, 2010 at 8:05 pm

Ruth, you can actually find the Dooney & Bourke bags at Disney Vault 28 on July 17. Dooney & Bourke is located in our Downtown Disney District.

I thought basic embroidery was included when you buy any hat?

Michelle Harker on July 13th, 2010 at 8:05 pm

Actually we changed the policy regarding embroidery for ear hats a little while ago. Embroidery is now available for a nominal fee.

Though I will not be at Disneyland for the 55th anniversary, I am still excited about it. We happen to be going to Walt Disney World in October and I was wondering if there is a website that has a calendar with dates of special events at the parks?

Michelle Harker on July 13th, 2010 at 8:05 pm

Alexander, for Merchandise Special Events in Walt Disney World, be sure to check out http://www.ArtofDisneyParks.com. For other general events, visit http://www.DisneyWorld.com

I’ll be there with the family on Saturday. Even though our Deluxe Annual Passes are blacked out, we are still going. The blackout day ticket is $40. Disneyland will only have one 55th Birthday. I can’t wait to see all the cool things.

@Nancy we bought the gold 50th anniversary Mickey ears for my daughter when we went 5 yrs. ago and we had her name embroidered on it. I’m sure we did pay a little extra for that though. We’ re going next week and she’s excited to get her 55th anniversary ears.

Christine on July 13th, 2010 at 9:04 pm

I guess they have to pay for those fancy embroidery machines they have some how. I liked the old way better.

Beth from CA on July 13th, 2010 at 10:02 pm

On the 17th, will you be able to buy the Mickey hat from the newstand on the outside of the Park?

Michelle Harker on July 14th, 2010 at 11:21 am

Hey Beth! We’ll have the ear hats available to purchase at Newsstand as well as World of Disney.

Being in Connecticut, I can’t get to Disneyland for the 55th…

Is there a website or phone# to purchase the 55th Anniv.
items? I’d love to get a Aloha shirt…

Michelle Harker on July 15th, 2010 at 8:54 pm

Hey John! I would recommend calling our Disneyland Merchandise Guest Services team on Monday, July 19th to inquire about remaining merchandise from the product release. You can reach them at 800.362.4533. Hope that helps.
