Disney’s Night of Joy Band Profile – BarlowGirl, Tenth Avenue North

Today’s artist profile has something for the guys and the girls – you decide which is which.

The three sisters that make up BarlowGirl – Alyssa, Becca and Lauren – are no strangers to the Night of Joy stage. 2010 will be the girls’ fourth year at Night of Joy. Probably best known for the haunting single “Never Alone,” BarlowGirl have five studio albums; countless hours of touring and tons of accolades under their belts. The girls took a break from their busy schedule to tell us about their first experience at Night of Joy.

In contrast to the sisters of BarlowGirl, the four guys from Tenth Avenue North have never played Night of Joy before; but we are SUPER excited to have them this year. As first timers, the “Tenth” guys – as we call them in The Biz – have exploded onto the Christian music scene over the past year with huge singles like “By Your Side” and “Hold My Heart” and were named GMA Dove Awards New Artist of the Year at the 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards.

Tenth Avenue North’s highly anticipated sophomore album, The Light Meets The Dark, debuted in May 2010 at No. 1 on the Nielsen Christian SoundScan chart and No. 15 on the Billboard Top 200. The new album also secured the No.1 Christian Album chart position at both iTunes and AmazonMP3, and reached Top 5 on the iTunes overall chart.

We caught up with the guys at rehearsals for the Dove Awards in April and they told us “What fans can expect” from the Tenth Avenue North show at Disney’s Night of Joy.

In addition to BarlowGirl and Tenth Avenue North, Casting Crowns, Third Day, mercyme and Chris Tomlin head a star-powered 16-act lineup set for Disney’s Night of Joy 2010 Sept. 10-11 when the long-running Christian music event makes its return to Magic Kingdom.

Also part of the two-night event (when specific acts play one evening each): David Crowder*Band, Family Force 5, Red, Day of Fire, Smokie Norful, Lecrae, Sidewalk Prophets, Thousand Foot Krutch and Britt Nicole.

ONE QUICK NOTE: We’ve a had a time change from our original schedule post on the Blog. Friday night’s performances by Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns have switched times, with Chris performing on the Cinderella Castle stage at 9:45 p.m. and Casting Crowns performing there at 11:45 p.m. As we always say, times and artists are subject to change.

Night of Joy tickets and additional information about the event are available at www.nightofjoy.com. You can also get live updates from the event via our Twitter account – @WDWNightofJoy.

Tonight’s event is sold out, but there are still tickets available for tomorrow night.

  • Thanks for the information. Also, with certain events, it would really be helpful to indicate WHERE particular events are held in the heading, or at least the first sentence. I wasn’t sure if Night of Joy is in DL Anaheim, WDW, DL Paris, Tokyo or Hong Kong, until I saw the small lettering at the bottom of the blog. It’s nice to know the location of which particular “Disney Park” right up front. Also, just labeling a video from “Disney Parks” is WAY too generic a logo for the videos. Please make them specific, so we can identify them easier. Thanks!

    • You’re right. Will do that next time.

  • Love both of these groups. So cool!!
