ESPN 101 High School Career Panel Offers Students a Glimpse at Potential Futures

Many teens have big dreams about what life has in store for them once they graduate from school. When I was in high school, fame and fortune certainly were on my wish list. As I got older, I came to realize and appreciate the hard work needed to make these desires come true.

Hundreds of Central Florida high school juniors and seniors recently got a lesson in how to take their dreams one step closer to reality as part of the ESPN 101 Career Panel hosted at the Walt Disney World Clubhouse of Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida.

ESPN anchor Jay Harris, joined by a panel of experts who are at the top of their profession in sports and entertainment, gave the students some direct, real-world advice. Students lined up to pepper the panelists with questions about how they could channel their spirit for sports and stardom into future careers.

The career panel kicked off several days of events culminating in the 6th annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge presented by Disney .

The exciting football match-up at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium highlights teams from Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) schools. This year, the Southern University Jaguars of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will take on the Delaware State Hornets of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) on Sept. 5 in a game televised at noon ET on the networks of ESPN.
