Minnie's Moonlit Madness Scavenger Hunt

It was a night of clues and trivia as 350 teams of cast members, family and friends scavenger-hunted their way through Disneyland Park looking to be the “big cheese” at this year’s Minnie’s Moonlit Madness. The event, which began 21 years ago, is an opportunity for cast to get together for a fun night of charity and showing off their knowledge of all things Disney – even the teeny, tiny details such as how many pairs of snowshoes are there in Frontierland are a part of the clues. This year’s winning team was led by Stephanie Mandelsberg who works in Fantasyland attractions. The top three teams receive medals and bragging rights!

Each year a local nonprofit organization is chosen to receive the proceeds from the event and this year Mercy House received $5,500 to help them in their quest to provide supportive services to homeless families in Orange County and the city of Ontario.

  • Is there a way I can get a copy of the clue and challenges?I do this with my niece & nephew to get them to see more things at Disneyland instead of handing them an ipod and letting them tune out.

  • While I never got a chance to participate while a Cast Member, I really wish I was able to take advantage of the opportunity now. Is there any thought given to inviting former CMs or even members of Partners FCU to form their own teams?

  • Hmmm…any hints about next week’s “Great Scavenger Hunt”?? Will any of the clues be the same? My team & I are super excited about it! Can’t wait 🙂

  • How cool is that? Sounds like awesome fun. As an AP this is one thing that I would not mind paying an extra fee for, just to be able to join in – I love the idea that the money goes to different charities. The idea of having the list @ City Hall for the guests is fun too.

  • This is the first year I didn’t go….but my team placed 27th… I think. One thing my family looks forward to each year!

  • I had the privilege of participating in the very first MMM as a cast member. We had so much fun! We didn’t do very well – in fact, I don’t think we finished, but we had such a great time running around the park. I kept the clip we had for roping ourselves together as my keychain until it literally fell apart.
Thanks for bringing back a great memory!

  • When I become a cast member, I’ll be so awesome at this! Can’t wait till I work at Disneyland !!!!

  • Of all the CM perks I miss, this tops the list. Minnie’s is the greatest fun!!!! I think my team’s best was 62nd out of 450 teams. Not too shabby!

  • @Daniel- Sounds like it’s just for cast members and their families and friends.

What a fun event! I love the idea of having a scavenger hunt list at City Hall. We loved looking for 50s during the 50th celebration, but it was way too easy! 🙂

  • This was my very first Minnie’s Moonlit Madness. My team and I had so much fun, and look forward to doing it again next year.

  • this was SO MUCH FUN!! First year joining the Madness…I was lucky enough to be roped to 3 smarties! we took too long on the 1st clue and only got 251st place but we are already planning for next time! Thanks to Suzanne, Franchesca and Amy for playing!

  • Woo hoo and congrats to my fellow teammates: Stephanie, Angela and Mike! We rock!

  • can regular families participate in this event?

  • Wow! this seems like a lot of fun. Was it posted? Is it open to the public, or just a Cast Member & Family jaunt? Especially for charity, this sounds like great fun.

    • Hi Carissa,

Minnie’s Moonlit Madness is a cast event and fundraiser. Cast Members can form teams that include other cast, friends and family so while it’s not directly open to the public, you could certainly be invited to participate by a Cast Member.

  • Would love to have a family scavenger hunt. It would be awesome if you posted the list for us to use.

  • Our group had a lot of fun this year running it… not as much fun as the year we won, but we had been “retired” from MMM for a few years. This year we decided to pull a Favre… and placed 72nd

  • I think it would be fun to have a scavenger hunt list at Town Hall that families could pick up as they enter the park and then at the end of the day mom and dad could award a prize to their most observent kiddo! It would be great if the “hidden objects” were in the lines for the rides and it would be another way for kids to keep busy in the longer lines! I may make some up for our next trip in December!!!!

  • Any chance that you could post the list of clues and answers for people who’d like to do their own “hunts” when they visit the park?

  • I had some friends participate this year and it sounded like so much fun! I had never heard of this until about a month ago. And for the money to go to a charity is such a great thing!

  • This is a great idea…I’m sure the whole cast had fun…how many snowshoes are there in Frontierland? this will be a good one for my kids to figure out when we are there in October….but if you could give me the answer so I know….

    • Hi Diane, thank you for leaving a comment. There are currently three pairs of snowshoes in Frontierland. They are hanging on the outside wall of Westward Ho Trading Company.
