Stars Come Out Aboard the Disney Dream

posted on January 21st, 2011 by Jonathan Frontado, Disney Cruise Line

One of my favorite things about a Disney cruise is stargazing from our ships or Castaway Cay.

Over the past couple days, however, the stars weren’t only in the sky. They were all over the Disney Dream, whooshing down AquaDuck, burning up the dance floor in Evolution or posing with characters on the pool deck.

If you’ve been anywhere near a media outlet this week you’ve probably heard something about the Disney Dream. On Wednesday, award-winning performer Jennifer Hudson christened the ship in a dazzling ceremony at Port Canaveral in Florida. Here she is posing inside the Art Deco atrium lobby:

After the big event, the ship set sail for a special two-night preview cruise with hundreds of journalists from around the world, plus celebrities including John Stamos, Marlee Matlin, and brothers Kyle and Christopher Massey. Also on board were dancers Cheryl Burke and Lacey Schwimmer from “Dancing with the Stars” and Travel Channel favorite Samantha Brown.

Here are Christopher (“The Search for Santa Paws”) and Kyle (“Fish Hooks”) taking a wild ride on AquaDuck:

Meanwhile, Lacey and Cheryl visited Pink, the ship’s chic, champagne-inspired lounge for adults:

Up on the pool deck, John and Marlee reconnected with old friends:

Did you catch Sam Champion from “Good Morning America” broadcasting live from the ship? Whoopi Goldberg taped several fun segments for “The View” so watch for them soon.

For members of the media, it was a whirlwind opportunity to experience the fun and innovation of Disney Cruise Line and the amazing amenities of the Disney Dream. Add a comment below and tell us which coverage you’ve enjoyed most.

Can you believe the ship’s maiden voyage departs Wednesday? On Monday we’ll start counting down to that major milestone with some exclusive, behind-the-scenes videos we shared with reporters on the christening cruise.

These photos of the stars amid the backdrop of the DREAM were GREAT!!! Please post more photos of the ship itself.
I am curious about the 3 rotational restaurants, the decor mostly because I know the food will be delicious.
I have sailed twice on the DISNEY WONDER and this fall I sail on the DISNEY MAGIC, then in 2012 I will sail on the DISNEY DREAM.

My kids just made me watch the video eight times!!!

Now does everyone get the option to ride down with the camera? That would be great to get a video going down with my children!!!

So true to Disney Cruise Line boat are not just for kids. The kids get a deck the adults get everything else. Everyone that has taken a Disney Cruise have all come back happy and said it was the best cruise ever. I concur that Disney goes the extra mile to insure than all who travel on have the best time of their life so they can go home and brag about it and then book another trip in the future.

We are going on cruise #5 with Disney Cruise Line in 2012. Just can’t figure out if we want to go to Alaska or the Mediterranean. We belong to the Disney Vacation Club and are saving up our points for one of the cruises.

I love that Jennifer and Donald are striking the same pose! Also love the Cheryl and Lacey shot — so artsy w/ light beaming through the glasses. Marlee with the “I Love You” sign language is awesome too. And @Carol you are right. Does John Stamos ever grow older?
