It’s time for “World of Color” to take a bow.

The hit show celebrates a big milestone tonight – its 500th performance at Disney California Adventure park. Thank you to the more than two million guests who have seen this spectacular display of water and special effects since it opened on June 11, 2010.

In thanks to all the “World of Color” fans, we have a fun trivia quiz today about the show, plus a look back at some of the great video highlights from Paradise Bay. This video is one that has been a favorite on the Disney Parks Blog:

Here’s our quiz. The answers are at the end of this post.

  1. The fountains are the stars of the show, with multiple moving heads that create color and light. How many fountains create the magic of “World of Color”?
  2. From initial planning concept to the debut, how long did it take to create “World of Color”?
  3. The show creators from Walt Disney Imagineering knew that “World of Color” would stretch the capabilities of existing water shows. What Walt Disney quote did they rely on in the process?
  4. Submerged beneath Paradise Bay is the superstructure that generates the show’s giant water screen. This “stage” is longer than a football field, and the width of the water screen ranges from 100 feet to how many feet: 175, 250 or 380?
  5. Since the show opened, a new piece has been added as an encore. It pays tribute to which Disney film?

  • I am a premier annual passholder and have seen World Of Color several times and each time I discover something new each time I see this show..It reminds me of the Dancing Water show I saw and loved as a small child in the 1970’s that was done at the Disneyland hotel..Special THANKS to the Disney Imagineers for bring us a Beautiful Family Show that all ages enjoy. I highly recommend doing the Ariels grotto dinner package wich includes tickets for the premier viewing area,,I have done this package since the start of World of Color and every time I have recieved good food and excellent service..THANK YOU!! • Michele,
Will they ever release a soundtrack for the show? I really want to put it into my ipod!

  • I’ve been going to Disney World since I was little and back in September I went to Disneyland for the first time as apart of a cross country trip and I have to say World of Color is my favorite Disney show ever!!!! There was a huge smile on everyone in my families face from ear to ear the entirety of the show! It is absolutely amazing and the week and a half of driving to get there was definitely worth it!! Anyone that hasn’t seen it has to!!! 🙂

  • I second Kevin’s request above! Please release the soundtrack!

  • I love World of Color all the way from over here in the UK…

Can I ask, is there likely to be a World of Color soundtrack CD released?

  • I’ve only seen it once, and it was amazing!! I agree that the organization for the Fast Pass was lacking. I still have my World of Color Fast Pass, so it makes a great souvenir, but proves I didn’t need to race over to Grizzly River Run, as soon as California Adventure opened

  • Mary from Santa Barbara, CA

I have seen this amazing World of Color Show five times and ever time I see it I get so emotional because you can see what the Disney Imagineering crew did to make this so special. But now to get to see it from the sky it is even more spectacular….Thanks Disney for such memorable creative show!!!!

  • As a frequent visitor to WDW…I’m so excited about finally checking out Disneyland and California Adventure in March. World of Color looks truly superb!! (It would be brilliant to see something like this arrive at EPCOT to replace Illuminations).

  • I’ve seen World of Color five times and each time I experience something new–I just love it!

  • World of Colour is just amazing..I didn’t like the “fast pass line”, but had great views on the bridge…anyone going…get to the bridge…

  • World of Color is awesome.

Its a very cool show and its really helped out California Adventure, finally the park has a nighttime spectacular of its own.

I’m really looking forward to the rest of the park’s expansion.
