Mardi Gras Mickey at Disneyland Park

After two amazing weekends of “Happy Lunar New Year,” it’s time for Mardi Gras celebrations at Disneyland park. The next three weekends will be filled with jazzy music, the sensational food of New Orleans and Disney characters in their Mardi Gras finery.

For Mardi Gras, Princess Tiana and her friends will help move “Family Fun Weekends” into New Orleans Square, with a celebration that features a lively street-party atmosphere and warm Southern hospitality.

You can catch the The Royal Street Bachelors playing their tunes at the French Market Stage, or join the fun with special interactive entertainment.

  • Princess Tiana’s Mardi Gras Celebration – Colorfully-costumed dancers, together with Tiana, Louis and Naveen, burst into New Orleans Square and make their way through the land. You can clap and dance along.
  • Jambalaya Jazz Cavalcade – Led by the Jambalaya Jazz Band, a cast of Disney characters dressed in their Mardi Gras attire proceeds to the Court of Angels for a meet-and-greet with guests. Look for Mickey and Minnie as they get ready to celebrate Mardi Gras.

Something new is on the menu for the first time at New Orleans Square – “Mickey” King Cake! You can also find Mardi Gras cupcakes, mint juleps and specialty items at the French Market and other New Orleans Square dining locations. Plus, you’ll be able to meet characters at a photo location in the Court of Angels.

The fun gets started this weekend – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – and it continues the following two weekends: February 25-27 and March 4-6.

Mardi Gras Celebrations occur in New Orleans Square at Disneyland park, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The last Jambalaya Jazz Cavalcade begins at 5 p.m. Look for show times in the daily park guide.

  • anybody find the mickey king cake? no one seemed to know. and then someone @ the french market said it would be next week…? is that right?

  • I agree with Aspen – “How about doing this ON Mardi Gras Day, March 8, and not just on the weekends?” I am planning a park trip on Fat Tuesday just for Mardi Gras and really wish you would do something special ON that day.

  • I will be there also from 1-7 am excited for this and to get the mickey King cake

  • I wish someone what post the right information too! You the blog says 10:30 am it starts all weekend but the Disney website says 11:00 on Friday and 10:00 on Sat-Sunday. Please post the right information PLEASE! BEFORE TOMORROW

  • I wish when you posted questions on the blog you would get an answer!

So is it rain or shine we are headed there tomorrow morning but it is suppose too rain? I don’t want to go for nothing!

  • can’t wait for this! i’m hoping too that you’ll be handing out beads, and i can’t wait to try the mickey king cake.

  • I’m excited to go to the Mardi Gras celebration this weekend. I have to say that these Family Fun Weekends have been the best idea that Disneyland has come up with in awhile.

I’d also LOVE to know what other characters will be out and second having Dr. Facilier out.

I LOVE the idea of the Mardi Gras celebration being IN New Orleans Square, but, I also know how intimate New Orleans Square is and that, especially on Presidents Day weekend, having lines of people all over the place to meet their favorite characters could present traffic problems. I remember when the Tiana and Naveen meet-and-greet was in the Court of Angels. It was a wonderful place for a meet-and-greet (I wish it was still used for a meet-and-greet), but I can’t imagine there being more than one character or one group of characters at a time there. Does this mean the characters in the Jambalaya Jazz Calvacade will be meeting and greeting together? Where will people be lining up? Will they be allowed to line up before the calvacade is lead there?

Also, will Tiana, Naveen and Louis be doing a meet-and-greet? I see they’ll be part of the Mardi Gras celebration, but, it doesn’t say they’ll be doing a meet-and-greet. And, where are they entering New Orleans Square and what part are they going down? Are they going down Royal Street? Won’t the traffic of the Pirates of the Caribbean exit make it difficult? Or, will it just be up Orleans Street? And/or maybe near the fountain?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to maximize my time at the Mardi Gras celebration and want to be in the right place at the right time. Thanks in advance!

  • What Nico said! What other characters will be present??

  • Y’all should really consider having them hand out beads to people in order to give it a more authentic feel. I hope someone gets a picture of those Mickey King Cakes.. I’m curious to see how close they are to the real thing.

  • I have seen Dr. Facilier….he’s not that exciting! Hahaha but I agree I wish the resort would do something on the actual day…and I’m super excited to see Louis and have king cake…yummm …wont he as good as real New Orleans tho 🙁 oh well!

  • I am so excited! My family will be at Disneyland march 2-6 and cant wait to see the Mardi Gras celibration! It will be so much fun and it is always fun to dance in the streets with any of the charachters! 12 days and counting! My neice Tianna cant wait to meet the princess of the same name!

  • Could we pretty pretty please with gumbo on top have Charlotte from Princess and the Frog in the parks? She’s so funny and I would really love to meet her! I can’t wait to see what Minnie is wearing, btw. Her outfits are always amazing!

  • They didn’t celebrate Lunar New Year on the day of either. Guess they need to stick with that. Plus, it’s not peak tourist season, no need to “waste” their performers when they only can only draw the most people during the weekend.

  • I agree with Dan~ PLEASE bring out Dr. Facilier & Lotte!!!!! More characters the merrier!!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!

  • How about doing this ON Mardi Gras Day, March 8, and not just on the weekends? I was really hoping Disneyland would do something special for Mardi Gras in New Orleans Square, but they’re kind of missing the point if they don’t celebrate Mardi Gras on Mardi Gras Day!

  • I want to meet Dr. Facilier and Lotte!!

  • Besides Naveen, Tiana and Louis. What other Disney Characters will be out?
