ElecTRONica at Disney California Adventure Park Extended Through Labor Day

posted on February 14th, 2011 by Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort

Guests have had so much fun at ElecTRONica, the grid will be open all summer long at Disney California Adventure park!

ElectTRONica is a nighttime celebration that features music, live performances and interactive experiences, and it has become the place to dance the night away. Inspired by the computer-world environment of “TRON: Legacy,” ElecTRONica comes to life each evening in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. The Disney film “TRON: Legacy” debuted in theaters in December, 2010.

Special featured acts continue to keep the experience fresh. Here are some current highlights of the party:

  • DJs keep the energy going with electronic party music while dancers costumed as “Sirens” and “Programs” from the movie rock out at locations throughout the party.
  • Dance Crews, including “We Are Heroes,” the first female dance crew to win MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” bring their signature moves to the Backlot Stage on selected nights.
  • Also appearing on the Backlot Stage is LASERMAN, demonstrating his unique talents and skill in a stunning performance that combines music, lights, and lasers.
  • An amazing, full-scale model of a Light Cycle from the Disney film “TRON: Legacy.”
  • A re-creation of Flynn’s Video Arcade, which was a key location in the “TRON: Legacy” adventure. Gamers shoot for the highest scores as they enjoy classic 1980s arcade games. For ElecTRONica, you can find Flynn’s at the back of the party, near End of Line club.
  • Fun food items and glowing beverages.

If you were visiting ElecTRONica tonight, where would you head to first?

I come to the Resort a lot: But does elecTRONica continue through the summer? I know that it is very popular with guests but would it not feel erelvent by the end of the summer? Besides is there not so construction that is going to get done that would prevent some night from showing the show, for example the taking down of the Hollywood Picture Backlot Sign and referbishment of buildings like Muppets, or the refacing of the Hyperton that would just make the entire street look very weirod?

Michele Himmelberg on February 14th, 2011 at 7:34 pm

Hi Brian. Yes, ElecTRONica will continue most of the summer, through Labor Day weekend.

Disney California Adventure needs a yearly dance party like Glow Fest and ElecTRONica. Thank you so much for these! Now can Disney please officially announce the sequel(s) to Tron Legacy!?

Suzanne on February 14th, 2011 at 3:33 pm

Yay! I haven’t seen it yet! Thanks for keeping it going through the summer! Tron-on!

David from UT on February 14th, 2011 at 3:34 pm

And much rejoicing was had on this day…

I’m so happy to hear this news. I’m a big TRON fan and didn’t get a chance to see ElecTRONica, but now I’ll be able to check it out on my trip this summer.

Michele Himmelberg on February 14th, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Hi David. I’m glad that you and our summer-time guests will get to enjoy ElecTRONica. It’s a great nighttime experience.

Jacob on February 14th, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Answering the question above the light cycle photo: I would head to Flynn’s Arcade.

Tron Lives!!!!!!!

SETH from CA on February 14th, 2011 at 4:29 pm

YaY!!! So glad to hear. I love walking through the back lot at night now. The energy from elecTRONica is amazing. Now with it being here over the summer, some of my family will get to see it. They saw pics I took over the winter, but they only come out to CA for summer vacation and were afraid it would be gone. Thank you Disney!!!!

Fred from CA on February 14th, 2011 at 5:20 pm

Its cool that ElecTRONica will be around through summer. It will no doubt be very popular with the crowds.

I haven’t experienced ElecTRONica for a while, so this will give me an opportunity to see some of the entertainment again before its too late.

I’ve heard that the Little Mermaid ride, Star Tours, and the Soundsational parade will all be opening this summer. So it should be a very exciting time at the resort.

Michele Himmelberg on February 14th, 2011 at 7:38 pm

Fred, be sure to check back on the Blog for details in the coming weeks. Thanks for following our news here.

If/when there is a 3rd Tron film, can you guys PLEASE bring an attraction to WDW in FL? Heck, I wouldn’t even mind to get ElecTRONica even if CA gets something new. Throw the rest of the country a bone here – trading pins alone don’t cut it!

Amanda on February 14th, 2011 at 6:11 pm

I am super excited about this. I’m planning a trip in July and was kind of bummed that I was going to be missing ElecTRONica. Now I get to see it.

Rhonda from CO on February 14th, 2011 at 6:38 pm

Yay for Electronica. Although I wish it were Glowfest instead! The Light Cycle is outside as you exit Muppet Theater. The reason it is staying, my guess is because of the all the construction. They need a way to get people into the park at night when WOC is going and there is not much else to do. WDW does not have it because they are 2 separate companies! It would be nice if enough of us asked/ begged/ pleaded, maybe they could do the same thing in Hollywood Studios in Florida!!

Laser Man is awesome though!!

Tracey from AZ on February 14th, 2011 at 7:24 pm

Thank you Thank you Thank you! I went in October but missed lazerman and my son and I did not realize that the arcade tokens were the cool Tron tokens. We are going in June and August so now we can go back to see Laerman and get our tokens:) I hope the light cycle model will still be there!

Jason on February 15th, 2011 at 12:57 pm

This is awesome news. I love Tron and ElecTRONica will be great to have around though summer.

Karen on February 17th, 2011 at 1:00 am

I really hope this means that ElecTRONica is going so well that they may decide to bring it to Disney World in Florida too! I’m a new TRON obsess-e and would love nothing more than to experience this nighttime extravaganza.
