Imagine a pizza party complete with cake and ice cream, all gluten-free, for a group of kids who can’t typically eat those things. That’s very special, and it’s possible at the Disneyland Resort. At Disneyland Resort, our chefs go above and beyond to ensure that every guest has the best experience possible – and we all know that the Disneyland Resort experience includes delicious food!

Gluten-Free Waffle Available at Disneyland Resort

From pizza to pancakes, waffles to pasta and burger buns to tacos, there are numerous choices for guests with a gluten-free diet. For those of you who might not know, a gluten-free diet is designed for people who cannot eat foods that contain wheat, barley, rye or oats. These grains are found in many foods – making it tough to find suitable choices when dining out. But our chefs have been making favorite foods gluten-free for more than 10 years. Nearly all our food locations offer a gluten-free item or substitution.

So, what should you do if you have a special dietary need and you plan to visit the Resort? Here are some easy steps that will make eating at our parks and hotels that much simpler:

  • Plan ahead! Take a look at this page for some tips and mention your special dietary needs when you book your dining reservation at 714-781-DINE.
  • Speak with the manager or chef of the dining location when you arrive, and he or she will help you in selecting the best choice.
  • You can also visit City Hall at Disneyland park for an updated list of all available gluten-free items.

  • I have a friend who has Celiac and all this time we never knew you had such options!

  • Isn’t he wonderful Roger? And so much fun to talk to as well!

  • Last Saturday, my friends and I were in the Park and wanted dessert after fireworks. We went to Plaza Inn and one of my friends joked about not being able to have something because there is nothing sugar-free. Lo and behold, Wade, a manager at the Plaza Inn, instantly let us know that there was a sugar free dessert. It’s the apple crostata. It’s very good and I highly recommend it. So Brenda, I understand how helpful Wade was to your and your family. It makes all the difference in a single minute!

  • Along the lines of #7’s comment, does City Hall have a list of dairy/casein free options by any chance? I understand that it would be almost impossible to accommodate all the allergies out there, but I’m going to be there in July, and I would totally hit up the dairy/casein free stuff to console myself for not being able to eat Dole Whip. 🙂 Thought I might as well ask.

  • The last time I was at Disneyland Wade from the plaza inn on Main street was checking in at our table to see how our experience was when he noticed my son had barely touched his food (food allergy). Wade said that part of his job was to make magic even if that meant finding something “magical” for him to eat. He returned with the chef and they found several things my son could eat after all! I had no idea there were so many food options for people, even kids, that have allergies. Your Cast Members are exceptional in the way they handle it too. Jose helped us at Goofys kitchen later on and was just as understanding as the plaza team!

  • WHAT?! Ohhhhh my gosh. I am the biggest Disney freak, I go to Disneyland like twice a month and I’ve had celiac since I was two years old and I just found out about this?! How did I not know?! I’m going to Disneyland tomorrow so you bet I’m going to be taking advantage of this new-found knowledge! YES!

  • Our son has a severe disability and very restricted diet. Disneyland is the ONLY vacation that we can take our son (he wouldn’t handle the longer plane trip to Florida) where I don’t have to worry about packing food around and can truly have a break from food preparation. Thank you so much Disneyland cast for making us feel like serving us allergy-free food was a priviledge on our past trips. I almost cried the first time one of your chefs came out to greet us with a handshake and then listen to our son’s allergens before telling us what was available for our him to eat. Most restaurants act like a special diet is such a bother to deal with, but not the happiest place on earth. We are hoping to save enough to go back next year (2012) and I know there will even be more options available next time! Disney Parks is truly a dream come true for families with disabilities. Again, thank you for working hard to make these beautiful parks accessible for everyone.

  • Wow…this is fantastic. Having two daughters with celiac’s disease makes travel challenging. I am very excited there are gluten-free options and a list of availablity. My girls will be so excited too. Thanks Disney.

  • I love your gluten-free options, but I must ask for more casein-free foods.

  • Having Celiac disease has always made it a challenge to go anywhere, and i LOVE the food that Disneyland has to offer. Even places such as the Blue Bayou accommodates for it! My husband was so excited to find out that we could finally eat delicious food together. Disneyland was always a favorite spot, but the effort they put into making all of their guests happy really does make it “The Happiest Place on Earth!”

  • I had no idea (other than the Gluten free pizza crust at Storytellers Cafe or the Hamburger Buns at the place to the right of Soarin’ over California….but inside Disneyland park? I’m going straight to City Hall on my next visit!
I would LOVE to see gluten free Mickey Mouse Pancakes!!!!!!

  • WOW! Thanks so much for posting this. My aunt was just diagnosed as having a gluten allergy. She was sad that there wasn’t going to be anything to eat at Disneyland. But now that there’s a list from City Hall she can get, it’ll make the trip so much nicer. Thank you!! 🙂

  • I’ve been so grateful for the gluten-free options at Walt Disney World and on the Disney Cruise – can’t wait to see what Disneyland has to offer when we return in a few years!!

  • It’s great that the Disneyland Resort has been having gluten-free items available for their guests. Next I am hoping for them to have nutritional information available for all the food/drink items at the resort. As a family with two diabetics, we have to count carbs to calculate how much insulin they need. Right now we have to do a lot of guesswork!

  • Is that a Mickey waffle?! Where at the DLR can I get that?! It looks soooo good!

    • Hi Maryanne: It does look good, doesn’t it? You can get “Mickey” waffles at most of our breakfast locations and the gluten-free version is available at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel.
