What a week it’s been for Scotty McCreery. One night he is having his name announced as the newest “American Idol” to an estimated 29.3 million viewers by Ryan Seacrest on the hit television show, and a few days later he is at Walt Disney World riding in a gala parade with Mickey Mouse by his side.

The humble and personable 17-year-old country crooner from Garner, N.C., was the star May 30 in a morning parade through Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Riding next to Mickey (who knows a few things about celebratory parades himself), Scotty waved to the thousands of fans gathered along Hollywood Blvd. In front of “The American Idol Experience” attraction, Scotty thanked the fans for their dedication and support. He then treated the crowd to a live performance of “I Love You This Big,” his new hit single, and later made a surprise, walk-on appearance inside “The American Idol Experience.”

What a thrill for him it must have been to be the star in a Disney parade with Mickey Mouse! Great story and pix of a singer who I hope will go far. I wish him well in his career and its a great way to start with a big Disney day.

Did he not do a “I’m Going to Disney World!” commercial?

Banks,
You didn’t miss it. There was not an “I’m Going to Disney World!” commercial this year with Scotty.

I am from Garner, NC and we went to many of the events for Scotty during his run to being the IDOL. He deserves every success that comes his way. It is very satisfying to see our local hero going to my favorite place on earth! Thanks for the story.

Brian,
That’s great to hear! I even met a family at the event yesterday from Garner, N.C., who happen to be at Walt Disney World on vacation and had a chance to see Scotty perform. They also were full of pride and it was great to hear Scotty talk on-stage about how much his hometown support meant to him during the season.

I’m so excited that Scotty won! I had been rooting for him since the moment he walked into the American Idol auditions. I have dibs on him being Country Musics’s NEXT Biggest Star!!! I’m so happy for you Scotty. I’ll be first in line to buy his first CD!!! Love you Scotty!

I did the American Idol Experience 2 years ago and it was amazing!! :) Oh, and the stools that the bottom 3 sit on in American Idol are actually very comfortable – and bouncy. lol :)
