Video: First Guests Arrive at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

posted on September 1st, 2011 by John McClintock, Disney Public Relations

Many of Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa’s first guests arrived Monday well before dawn for their first look at the resort. In fact, the first in line was a veteran of Disney openings: Michael Kuzma of Celebration, Fla., who was also first in line for the opening of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and for the maiden voyage of the Disney Magic.

But of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney opening if Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse weren’t first through the doors. Since they’re vacationing in Hawai‘i, just like other Aulani guests, they were in their Hawaiian vacation outfits.

Before checking in, the Mahi family was told that they were named the First Honorary Family and that they would be able to participate in the opening ceremony for Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa. Afterward, they talked to the Disney Parks Blog about their experience at the new Disney resort. Here they are, checking in alongside Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

Even now, as the guests are enjoying the pools, water slides, kids club, restaurants and spa, we’re preparing for a special Grand Opening ceremony scheduled in September. Meanwhile, I’ll be showing you more of Aulani as it comes fully to life, helping create special Hawaiian vacation memories for its guests. Keep watching the Disney Parks Blog.

Wow! It looks so beautiful and peaceful. My two most favourite things combined. Disney and Hawaii. I am hoping to come visit in the future. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Aloha Mickey and Minnie!

My husband and I are going in November 2012 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I just hope there are rooms left when we’re able to book using our DVC points.

Maika’i Disney!! This is Disney at its very best– not only do they build a world class resort in one of the finest destinations in the world, but they also reach out to their host community, helping to enrich our islands, and making real, lasting connections with its people. Mahalo nui loa Disney from the people of Hawaii!!
