A Salute to a Courageous Veteran on Veterans Day

posted on November 11th, 2011 by Darrell Fry, Sports Media Director, Walt Disney World

There are tons of events today to honor our men and women in the armed services on this Veterans Day, but here’s one that I came across that has a distinctive Disney twist. Check out this video of Michael Fradera of Lakeland, FL, who is a former Marine and Army soldier who lost his legs in combat but plans to compete in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in January through a program Cigna launched for wounded veterans.

Hey, if you’d like to run with him during the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, you can still sign up at runDisney.com.

We can never repay the military service men and women for the sacrifices they make to keep our world safe, but here’s my little way of saluting one of them for the courage, resilience and spirit that all military personnel share.

Thank you from Disney Parks to the military men and women of countries around the world.

I’ll be there, supporting my husband who is running the Goofy, but I’ll definitely be cheering you on as well. Thank you for your service. You’re such an inspiration!
