First Look: Nick Cannon, Christina Aguilera, OneRepublic and More at the Disneyland Resort for the 2011 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade on ABC

posted on November 7th, 2011 by George Savvas, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort

This weekend, we completed some segments at the Disneyland Resort for the 2011 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, and here is a preview of what to expect this year on the ABC broadcast that has become a family tradition.

Nick Cannon with Phineas & Ferb at Disneyland Park

First, it was great to have proud new papa, Nick Cannon, back hosting at Disneyland park this year. Nick posed for this Ferb-tastic photo following Phineas and Ferb’s big “Gitchee Gitchee Goo” number on Main Street, U.S.A.,

During that performance Nick was also joined on stage by a certain secret agent and … I think I’ve said too much. You’ll just have to see it for yourself.

McClain Sisters Celebrate the Holidays at Disneyland Park

Next, the star of Disney Channel’s “A.N.T. Farm,” China Anne McClain, was joined by her sisters Lauryn and Sierra for The McClain Sisters’ version of “Jingle Bell Rock.” These talented young ladies really brought the holiday cheer.

OneRepublic Performs in Front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park

Later, OneRepublic sang their smash hit “Good Life” on an incredible multimedia stage in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Nick Cannon and Marlee Matlin at Disneyland Park

Then, Nick Cannon was joined by Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin to introduce singer-songwriter Nathan Pacheco and vocalist Katherine Jenkins who performed a stirring version of “O Holy Night.”

Nathan and Katherine were joined by Katie Leclerc and Sean Berdy from the ABC Family hit, “Switched at Birth.” Sean and Katie interpreted this performance beautifully in American Sign Language.

Christina Aguilera Performs at Disney's Grand Californian Resort & Spa

Finally, Christina Aguilera sang the holiday classic, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Her performance was simply fantastic and one I know you will not want to miss when the show airs December 25.

At the conclusion of this year’s taping at the Disneyland Resort, Minnie Mouse stopped by to wish Christina and her family a very merry Christmas.

Cannot wait to go to the filming at Magic Kingdom next month! It’s been a family tradition with my Mom & Grandparents to watch the special every year since 1992, & I’ve been going to the filming every year since I moved to Orlando in 2007. Since I cannot make it home, it’s my way of being home for Christmas do my Mom & Grandparents can see me :)

Was One Republic at WDW also? I could have swore I saw them there this past week too!

George Savvas on November 7th, 2011 at 4:38 pm

Alison – yes, the band was recently at Walt Disney World for another taping not related to the Christmas Day Parade.

My girlfriend Samantha and I were there Saturday for most of the parade taping and for the first One Republic performance in the late afternoon. We got there around 11:30 so we were stuck with a spot right past the official end of the parade taping route, near City Hall, but it was still cool to see all of the floats as the turned the corner. Toward the end, the Phineas and Ferb portion of the show was taking too long to tape, so we decided to go wait for the One Republic performance.

Another long wait to get into the performance viewing area, but definitely worth it. AMAZING PERFORMANCE! I didn’t know that they sang “Good Life,” the song to the Disneyland commercial, which oddly enough we were ALSO there at the park for! The song is awesome and their performance is so up-beat and high-energy!

We were tempted to go back for Sunday’s performances but didn’t want to make the journey into the park only to find out that the performances were canceled or postponed due to rain. Oh well. Would’ve loved to have seen Christina, but life goes on!

Happy Holidays!

George – Just realized a small little something that you made a mistake on. It’s nothing major, but for those keeping score at home, China Anne McClain performed BEFORE the Phineas and Ferb “Gitchy Gitchy Goo” flash mob dance, which was right at the very end of the parade.

I was there too for the parade filming. I had a great spot right by the magic shop on main street. And at one point Nick Cannon did a segment maybe a few feet to my left. It has now been a tradition for the past several yrs to go and support all my parade friends. And one of the parade performers I have been watching for at least 5 yrs now, it just happened that her mom was standing right next to me. We started chatting and I was talking about one of my favorite parade performers and she said that sounds like my daughter. I told her the name, and she said yes thats my daughter. So out of all the people who were lining main street, that was so cool that I got to meet her and tell her how much her daughter’s performing is so special to me.
One other part was so cool with all the little kids doing that dance to Toy Land with the Toy Soldiers. Which are my favorite park of the Christmas parade. It was interesting how they mixed Soundsational and the Christmas Fantasy parade all together. I can’t wait to see how they edit it with the segments from WDW. Thank you all parade performers and directors for all the hard work you put in and to Russ the announcer, who was sort of like the cheerleader going up and down the whole length of main street to stir everyone up. Job well done!!
After the taping of the parade part was done, I headed to Fantasyland to the Village Haus for a pastrami burger..YUM!!

Where can I find the information ahead of time for the filming of the Christmas Day Parade and the other performances? The Christina Aguilera performance at the Grand California .. there were seats set up so is this on a first come basis or were tickets given out? I’ve been an AP holder for the past 14 years and have never been. The closest I’ve come was asking an employee who was going to perform on the stages that was set up in front of the castle? I was told Josh Groban “already” performed the day before … : (

April, the TV production is not part of our scheduled entertainment in the parks and the production schedule is fluid and ever-changing. Guests visiting during production may have an opportunity to see the taping in progress, but most will not. The best seat in the house is on ABC Christmas Day!

We have been to Disney World at Christmastime before, but this will be the first time we are there for the taping of the parade! We are so excited! Is there any information about the performers that will be at Walt Disney World for the taping?

Does anyone know how I can get complimentary tickets to Disney World for the taping of the Christmas Parade? We got tickets last year and brought the whole family … all dressed in red and green and mickey mouse! Any info would be greatly appreciated.
