Disneyland Park Celebrates Three Kings Day

posted on December 20th, 2011 by Erin Glover, Manager, Social Media and Print

“Disneyland

The holidays will continue at Disneyland Resort through Sunday, Jan. 8, which will give us the opportunity to celebrate Three Kings Day, also known as Día de los Reyes Magos, for the first time ever, on January 6-8! Special décor and entertainment will showcase Western and Mexican heritage, and food and children’s activities will be themed to the holiday.

Three Kings Day is celebrated in many Latin American countries as part of the Christmas story. It commemorates the day the three kings (the magi or “wise men”) followed the star to Bethlehem and presented their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

The Three Kings Day celebration at Disneyland park will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Zocalo Park (which is Spanish for “Town Square”) in Frontierland. Walt Disney envisioned Frontierland as a showcase for America’s Western and Mexican heritage, and this celebration will continue that vision.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will appear in their Fiesta costumes and other characters will join them, including the Three Caballeros: Donald Duck, Jose Carioca and Panchito! Entertainment highlights will include folklorico dance along with musical performances by the Grammy-winning Mariachi Divas. Children will have the opportunity to participate in face painting, coloring, crown decorating and other activities.

Be sure to bring your family and celebrate Three Kings Day with us here at Disneyland park!

Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade Spreads Holiday Cheer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

posted on December 20th, 2011 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Nothing evokes holiday cheer like the sounds of jingle bells – am I right?

Guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are currently catching the holiday spirit by watching Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade, which steps off at the park each afternoon. The procession features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and other Disney Parks characters in holiday attire, as well as parade floats decked out with toys, Christmas trees and all kinds of holiday cheer. Be sure to check out the footage above of this fun procession and take note of the grand marshal families, who are donning reindeer and candy cane-inspired hats this year!

You can see Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade through Jan. 3, 2012.

Toy Story Mania! Will Open at Tokyo DisneySea July 9

posted on December 20th, 2011 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Tokyo Disney Resort recently announced that a new attraction – Toy Story Mania! – will debut at Tokyo DisneySea on July 9, 2012.

Toy Story Mania! to Open at Tokyo Disney Resort on July 9, 2012

The attraction will be located in Toyville Trolley Park, a new area themed after an old-fashioned amusement park. Toy Story Mania! will have a few differences from the attraction here at Walt Disney World Resort, including the fact that guests will initially enter through Woody’s mouth. From here, guests will find themselves in Andy’s room, which is strewn with larger-than-life board games, puzzles and other toys.

Guests later board a tram, put on 3-D glasses and roll under Andy’s bed where the toys have set up a carnival play set. Joining in the fun, guests play the carnival games with all their “Toy Story” friends.

The attraction also will be accompanied with Slinky Dog’s Gift Trolley merchandise shop.

Giving is our Way at Disneyland Resort

posted on December 19th, 2011 by Kevin Rafferty, Jr., Communications Specialist, Disneyland Resort

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Enjoying the Holiday Season

‘Twas the season of giving at the Disneyland Resort, and in keeping with our annual tradition, we hope you’ll enjoy caroling about this year’s community support to the tune of “Winter Wonderland.” Happy holidays!

Community called, we were listenin’,
At the ready, our smiles a glistenin’
Bringing holiday cheer,
And donating all year,
Giving is our way at Disneyland.

We gave away – record donations,
To charities, and foundations
$13 million was contributed,
in So Cal it was distributed,
Giving is our way at Disneyland.

For the kids cast members held a toy drive,
Led by the one and only Mickey Mouse
He said: Are you giving?
We said: Yes Mick,
Thousands to the Toys-for-Tots warehouse.

Our wish program — we conspired,
By the children, we were inspired
With characters enchanted,
550 wish trips granted,
Giving is our way at Disneyland.

At a park together we built a playground,
For Anaheim children it did please
Adopt-a-Family helped 700 people,
Marine families received lots of Christmas trees.

Ticket requests, came to fruition,
For nonprofits – theme park admission
16 thousand donations,
to 4 thousand organizations,
Giving is our way at Disneyland.

The call for help, we were listenin’,
VoluntEARs workin’ and whistlin’
85 thousand hours this year,
One hundred sixty events with our gear,
Giving is our way at Disneyland.

In the schools we helped to build art programs,
About 200 grants that we gave
College aid for 10 high school seniors,
Five thousand in tuition each will save.

To volunteer, the feeling’s thrillin’,
Dreams at CHOC, we are a’ fillin’
At the CHOC Walk day,
Or holiday party to play,
Giving is our way at Disneyland.

Giving is our way at Disneyland.
Giving is our way at Disneyland.
