Earlier this month, our Youth Events and Park Event Operations teams helped create a magical reunion for a member of the U.S. military and his family at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Cheerleader Jill Wigle and her family were at the park to participate in the Varsity Brands, Inc. National High School Cheerleading Championship. During the competition, participants with family members serving in the U.S. military were asked to come forward for a round of applause.
The Wigles were surprised with a video of patriarch Matt Wigle wishing Jill good luck in the competition all the way from his station in Kabul, Afghanistan. But the real magic happened after that clip ended … see for yourself!

Matt thank you for your service. I know how wonderful your family feels having you home safely. Thanks to all the military serving both home and abroad to keep us all safe. For those currently deployed and those about to deploy, please know that your sacrifices are appreciated. To my son’s friend Jas about to deploy to Afghanistan for a second tour, stay safe and thank you.

Please note: Matt is a civilian contractor working for a private company, not a serviceman. His dedication and willingness to put himself in harm’s way to assist the mission in Afghanistan is incredibly admirable and critical to the success of the military objective.
