Behind the Music of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

The music you hear as you stroll around the Disneyland Resort or ride your favorite attraction is such an integral part of the Disney magic. Today we take you “behind the music” in North Hollywood with song writer and composer Bruno Coon and the band, “Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.” (Billy Hill and the Hillbillies have been entertaining at Disneyland park since the early 1990s.) In this recording session they performed the instrumental tracks for the songs heard on Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. We have previously shown you a sneak peak of Larry the Cable Guy recording the vocals for these songs. In this video, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies are recording a variation of one of these songs – one that will be heard as background music throughout the town of Radiator Springs. Guests will be able to enjoy this in person as they explore the exciting new Cars Land when it opens June 15.

From food to fun, here’s a look back at just some of what you can expect when Cars Land opens this summer:

  • but I only saw one billy there…where’s the rest?

  • OMG I LOVE THE BILLIES!!!! They are my favorite and have been watching them since a kid, they’ve practically seen me and my sis grow up!! NOW I HAVE TO GET ON THIS!! 😀

  • Sounding good!:)

  • Our entire family has been fans of Billy Hill and the Hill Billies every since they opened at the Park over 20 years ago. No visit to the Park is complete without seeing all of the Billies 2 or 3 times. They are all very talented musicians and the shows are hilarious. What a wonderful way to continue the legacy of Wally Boag’s and the Golden Horseshoe. It’s a treat to know that Kirk Wall will be providing the melody for Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree!!

  • The music at the parks, and especially at Disney’s California Adventure, is fantastic! My favorites are definitely the instrumental Beach Boys music in the entry plaza and the queue music for Soarin’ Over California (soundtrack to the American President?). Even the music on the boardwalk and A Bug’s Land manage to not only provide background noise, but to create an entire mood appropriate for the intended experience, whether that be inspirational, historic, or just plain fun. With Billy Hill and the Hillbillies providing music for Car’s Land, I’m sure this section of the park will be just as great!

  • Sounds great! I can’t wait to explore the town of Radiator Springs!

  • This. Is. Fantastic.

I love Billy Hill and the Hillbillies! Just this past weekend, my husband and I were wondering what kind of atmosphere music we will be hearing in Carsland. I would never have guessed it would be the Billies! What a wonderful surprise!

    Hurry up June 15th!!!

  • Will there be a new Disney California Adventure CD released this year?

  • God bless Billy Hill and the Hillbillies! A must see every time I’m at the park and one of the truest forms of Classic Disney entertainment!
