Disney California Adventure Park

The Happiest Place on Earth is about to get happier – and beginning with arrivals on June 18, 2012, guests staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel can take advantage of Extra Magic Hour* – early admission to either Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure park – every day of their stay (with valid theme park admission and active hotel room key card).

Extra Magic Hour will allow registered Disneyland Resort hotel guests admission into select attractions at Disneyland park on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and Disney California Adventure park on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, before that park opens to the general public.

This is just one of the many benefits of staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel. Explore the others here, and book your stay now here, and see for yourself why the “Happiest Place on Earth Just Got Happier!”

*Check disneyland.com for schedule of when each park offers Extra Magic Hour. Each registered hotel guest (ages 3 and older) must have a valid theme park ticket and active hotel room key card. To enhance the Extra Magic Hour experience, it is strongly recommended that guests arrive at least one hour and 15 minutes prior to regular park opening. Applicable Theme Park, days and times of operation and all other elements including, but not limited to, operation of attractions, entertainment, stores, restaurants and appearances of characters may vary and are subject to change without notice. Subject to capacity, cancellation and other restrictions.

Comments

  • Will you be able to use the extra magic hour on your arrival date? I was planning to book a vacation and arrive early morning on a Friday to check in and make it to the Extra Magic Hour that day. I realize my hotel room won’t be ready at 7am, so I won’t have an “active room key” yet, even though I’m checking in that day – does that mean I won’t be able to use the Extra Magic Hour for that day?

  • Extra Magic Hours (EMM) at Disney California Adventure is one hour before the park opens to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. EMM is only available to guests staying at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels. Good neighbor hotels are excluded from this.

Note that if you have a multi day hopper – magic morning is only good for Disneyland, not DCA.

Annual Passholder Early Entry will be offered at Disneyland Park on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at Disney California Adventure Park on most Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

These are two very separate events.

  • No one ever responded about Good Neighbor hotels…does this not apply for those?

  • Erin, I just got my 3-day Park Hopper tickets. The ticket says we only get entry on one day for the Extra Magic Hour. Are you saying the rules have changed so we can utilize the Extra Magic Hour all three days (alternate between Disneyland and California adventure)?

  • Erin–I love this promotion! The question asked several times above, which I’ve gotten differing responses from Disney on, is whether or not early entry will be offered every day in the fall. Please respond and end the confusion.

  • I’m excited about the early entry to DCA! But how does this differ from Magic Mornings?

  • What about Good Neighbor Hotel guests? Will they still receive “Magic Morning” admission (applicable to Disneyland only), or this new “Extra Magic Hour” admission (Disneyland and DCA), or neither?

  • Does this apply if one is staying at Paradise Pier and has the military admission to the park. Must one purchase park hoppers through Disney Travel Company?

  • Hi Erin,
Has anyone said when this event ends? Planning on taking the family in late July, I wanted to know if this would still be active

  • I thought this was just going to be something special for Passholders. I guess not.

  • Hi there, Do the Disneyland hotels accept service animals?

    Thank you so much!!

  • Does this mean that the Magic Morning that used to be available to others staying at nearby hotels (not Disney hotels) has been eliminated?

  • Nicholas: That’s exactly the point! If hotel guests and APs could attend DCA & Disneyland on the same days, it’d be fairly packed. Staggering the days will help keep extra magic hours calm! So yes, they are two different events (with two different names but technically the same thing happens it’s just a way to seperate hotel guests from APers) – for Hotel guests: Extra Magic Hour & Annual Passholders: Early Entry.

  • Hi Erin!
Is this a permanent or temporary opportunity?
We are visiting in November, and I was wondering if this will still apply.

  • I just signed up for the annual pass early admission days. They appear to differ from the Extra Magic Hours days that are listed on the parks websites. Are these going to be separate events?

    • The early admission opportunity for Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders is a separate offering from this opportunity.

  • What attractions or lands will be open in Disney California Adventure during the Extra Magic Hour?

  • Hi Erin, I will be going in September. Will this still be available then?

    • Matthew – and others who have asked – I have an update! This will be an ongoing offering, with no end date planned at this time.

  • Does this actually begin on June 18th (i.e., California Adventure will be open on June 18th at 7am for registered hotel guests)?

    • Patrick – This opportunity does begin on June 18, so early admission will be available that day.

  • Erin, does this not apply to guests staying at Disney’s Grand Californian?

    • Hi Marc – This opportunity is available for guests staying at all Disneyland Resort hotels. That includes Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.
