‘Ducky’ Draws Mickey at Disney Parks

posted on May 2nd, 2012 by Thomas Smith, Editorial Content Director, Disney Parks

So, the last time we visited artist Don “Ducky” Williams, he wowed us with a perfect Donald in two minutes. Today, we’re back in his amazing office and this time he’s drawing and sharing stories about the other character with a special place in his heart – Mickey Mouse. I think you’ll enjoy this conversation shot as if you were standing with Don as he creates art.

Keep checking the blog for more in this special series of stories with Don. And please let us know which character you’d like to see created and discussed next.

Definitely will be showing this to my girls when they get home. Our oldest has autism but loves to draw cartoon characters. We are hoping she becomes an animator when she grows up. I will have to ask her what character she wants to see next.

Please do, Colleen. Would love to know the character she’d like to see.

Very nice!

Does Mr. Don “Ducky” Williams ever do any events where you could meet him or get one of his drawings? I’ve loved his work over the years! Thanks for posting this video! Donald is my favorite, but I’d love to see him draw Ludwig Von Drake or Launchpad McQuack!

Hi Andy, thanks for the suggestions. And Gary is correct – Don has indeed created art on Disney Cruise ships and at events.

Gary from NY on May 2nd, 2012 at 12:40 pm

@Andy, Mr. Williams does a lot of Disney events and lately has been on certain Disney Cruises. Many times he will ask trivia questions and the winners get the drawings he does. I got a nice Winnie the Pooh years ago.

Thanks, Gary.

Cool video. Its fun to see the caharacther slowly emerge. I mostly enjoyed the explanation between Goofy and Pluto. That was spot on.

@Colleen: There are drawing classes on Disney Cruise Line that we very much enjoyed. Although we did not learn from Don. But my daughter drew a Goofy that was supercute for a 6 year old. If I remember correctly there will be some going out of Texas next year i think it was…

I am enjoying these videos so much! I love watching him draw! I would love to see him do Minnie Mouse!

This video just completely made my day. Thanks, Mr. Smith, for sharing that magic!

This sooo made my day…what a wonderful piece of Disney history, and I’m posting it onto my Facebook timeline! 😀 Besides Sorcerer Mickey (my all-time favorite character), I’d actually like to see Maleficent drawn. She’s just such a cool looking character!

Don “Ducky” Williams is the best! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him on the Maiden Voyage of the Dream and of the Fantasy. He is a talented artist but also a wonderful person! I have an entire wall of his art in my house.

We have watched this numerous times and would love to see Minnie mouse.
