The Legend Of Captain Jack Sparrow To Open At Disney’s Hollywood Studios This Fall

posted on May 2nd, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Earlier this week, you may have heard about a new pirate-themed offering coming to Walt Disney World Resort. Well, we can now officially confirm that The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow will open this fall at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Will Open This Fall at Disney's Hollywood Studios This Fall

Details are still emerging, but the attraction will give guests a chance to become immersed in the world of the four “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, and an opening date will be announced later this year.

According to Jason Roberts, show producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, “This is going to be an immersive experience. We’ll really delve into the story of Captain Jack Sparrow and put our guests in the middle of it all in new and exciting ways. Story is always the most important thing for us at Walt Disney Imagineering, but we’re always looking at new ways to tell the story that our guests have never seen before. In this attraction, we’ll let you walk in the footsteps of Jack Sparrow. It’s not ‘the making of,’ not ‘behind the scenes’ … it is really a first-person experience. We worked with the archives as well as the filmmakers while they were shooting the last movie. And as a fan, I just loved sitting through those films again and again, going through all the details and leveraging them for this new experience. It’s really been a blast.”

Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for updates on this and other new projects.

Do you know which month it will be opening? Hopefully in time for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon! It would be wonderful if this, the “new” Test Track, and the Be Our Guest restaurant were open for the Wine and Dine! HINT HINT! :)

The description sounds vastly superior to the Narnia attraction that it’s going to replace. I can’t wait to see it!

Love this idea! Will this attraction be located in the old Cronicles of Narnia theater? Is it going to be some type of ‘ride’ such as the Great Movie Ride or more of a show? Can’t wait to hear more details! Thanks!!!!

I am just glad SOMETHING is coming to Hollywood Studios. Even if it is just a walk through.

Could this be why Barbosa and Davy Jones were excised from The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction over at Magic Kingdom?

Keep the work coming Disney. Every Update to an attraction and every new announcement will equal up to more guest I know I’ll be going soon. This is a great start but I am keeping my fingers crossed for something BIG.

This is amazing! I am SO excited for this. I absolutely love Pirates of the Caribbean… and especially Captain Jack Sparrow! :)

Does this experience include a meet-and-greet with Jack, the way that the old Narnia one had a meet-and-greet with Prince Caspian? That would be INCREDIBLE! I love meeting Jack, but right now, as far as I know, you can only meet him at the holiday parties.

I’m very glad that this is coming to Hollywood Studios, because I think that park could use some new attractions. My family has been keeping our fingers crossed that something like this opened in the old Narnia space! We even guessed that it might be Pirates, although we also thought that it could hold an attraction inspired by a different Jerry Bruckheimer Disney film, like “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” or “Prince of Persia”. Those are some of our favorite movies, but they’re completely unrepresented in the parks! Hollywood Studios would be the perfect place for something like that… Maybe a real-like Arcana Cabana, or a Sorcerer Training activity!

This sounds very cool! I love Pirates of the Caribean, as I just finished marathoning all four of the films.

Sounds awesome. Especially since it sounds like the Fantasyland expansion will be complete around the same time. Definitely means I’ll have to consider a trip much sooner to WDW.

Sounds great, my friend.

So is it strange that the title just made me think of Michael Bolton singing “I’ll tell you a tale of Captain Jack Sparrow!” Legend of..Tale of…close enough.

Anyways, this sounds like it could be fun. I really don’t know what to expect from the above description, but cool!

Do you know when in the fall? I hope it is open when we are there. My son will be soooo excited, he loves anything pirates. Would love to surprise him with this too.

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on May 12th, 2012 at 8:15 am

I don’t have an exact date. If he loves pirates, you must try The Pirates League (awesome pirates makeover), and Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial.

My husband and my son will be going crazy now waiting for our next trip. We are all huge Pirates fans. Glad there’s going to be something new. Although, I really wish they would do Jack Sparrow meet and greets.

Pamela on May 5th, 2012 at 12:34 am

What show will this replace?

24

Allie on May 6th, 2012 at 11:52 am

Pamela: this space used to hold a Prince Caspian exhibit, about the Narnia movies. But it’s been empty for a little while.
