All in the Details: The View from Belle’s Village in Magic Kingdom Park

posted on June 5th, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Continuing with our “All in the Details” series, this week’s Walt Disney Imagineering photo comes to us straight from Belle’s Village in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park.

I don’t know why I like this photo so much – I think it’s the juxtaposition of the rustic wishing well against the backdrop of Beast’s elegant castle. It illustrates just how far Belle travels in her story: from village life to a life of adventure “in the great wide somewhere.”

While we’ve run shots of Beast’s Castle before, this is the first time we’ve seen it from the perspective of someone standing on the ground within New Fantasyland. Very cool.

Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog and follow @WaltDisneyWorld on Twitter for the latest on the New Fantasyland expansion. While you’re on Twitter, join in the conversation by using the hashtag #NewFantasyland.

Hi Jennifer, My 4 year old recently told Make-A-Wish that she wants to go to Beast’s Castle!! We’re hoping to come down to Disney around or shortly after Thanksgiving. We’re VERY excited!! Thanks for all the updates on your blog.

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on June 5th, 2012 at 10:22 am

Andrew – That’s a wonderful wish! All we’ve been told for opening dates are “holidays 2012.” I hope your family has a great time.

Do you know if the village fountain is there?? I just want to sit on it with a book and sing, “OOOOOOH isn’t this amazing. It’s my favorite part because, you see……”

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on June 5th, 2012 at 10:36 am

Ha! I love that part, David.

Will will be going to Disney in October. What can we expect to be open at that time? I’m hoping they consider Halloween to be “around the hoildays”!!!

I, too, would love to know when we can make reservations for January 2013. I know it’s more than 180 days away, but I haven’t even been able to make lodging reservations online yet. I absolutely must eat at the “Be Our Guest” restaurant (it looks completely fabulous!), and so I just can’t wait to make our reservation! Thanks for all the wonderful updates!

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on June 6th, 2012 at 9:26 pm

You can’t make reservations yet, but keep in mind that lunchtime is quick-service, so you don’t need reservations. Dinner is a table-service meal, for which it would be helpful to have a reservation.

The peeks that you give us only make our cravings that much stronger, but I suppose that’s the point! Looking forward to 2013 and beyond. Hope the weather holds out during hurricane season so that construction may continue uninterrupted!

Thanks for the “perspective” (a la Anton Ego)

THERESA on June 5th, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Hello Jennifer,

New Fantasyland is going to look truly amazing once complete! Do you know if the new Fantasyland will all be complete by the end of 2012? My family is planning to go in early 2013.
Thanks! Theresa

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on June 6th, 2012 at 8:52 am

A very large portion is set to open this holiday season that includes: Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Gaston’s Tavern, and Ariel’s Grotto. Keep in mind that Princess Fairytale Hall is set for 2013, and The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for 2014.

Debra from ON on June 6th, 2012 at 10:25 am

Thank-you Jennifer for doing this weekly update!! I love it!! Do you know if “Be Our Guest” will be a character meal for dinner? I am very anxiously waiting to make a reservation at the restaurant during our Dec 20-24 trip.

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on June 6th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Thanks, Debra. While you can’t make reservations yet, remember that lunchtime is a quick-service meal, so you don’t need reservations for that time of day. Dinner will be a table-service meal (for which I’d suggest having reservations).

amy on June 11th, 2012 at 1:41 pm

Will “Be Our Guest” be a character dining experience? Thanks!!

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on June 12th, 2012 at 4:23 pm

I don’t have any info on this yet. There will be a character meet-and-greet experience at Enchanted Tales With Belle, which will be located nearby.

I’m confused, that looks like Prince Eric’s castle in the background with the red rooftops, I know the Beast’s castle color scheme is dark blue-grey with darker roof tiling. Am I way off and need my eyes checked?

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on July 2nd, 2012 at 10:22 am

Nope – it is Beast’s Castle. :)
