The new “Cars” courtyard at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort officially opens to guests today, and I have to say that after watching the coverage of the opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park last week, I’m thrilled to have a piece of Radiator Springs right here at Walt Disney World Resort to enjoy.
I stopped over at the resort earlier today, and I have to say it’s nothing short of amazing. Head straight through the resort’s main lobby, make a right-hand turn and hop on Route 66 – a winding path that draws you into Ornament Valley and to the small town of Radiator Springs. This winding “road” gives you plenty of opportunities to pause and admire the beautiful desert landscape.
The courtyard is also sprinkled with tourist stops that are taken straight out of the film, including Tow Mater’s Tow & Salvage, the Wheel Well Motel, and Sally’s Cozy Cone Motel.
The “Cars” courtyard is also populated with the residents of Radiator Springs, with Lightning McQueen, Mater, Sally, Ramone (above), Doc Hudson, Luigi, Guido and Fillmore waiting to greet you.

@ Natalie – of course you can. Just take the bus from any of the parks and stroll around to your heart’s content. They will have a fabulous food court, so it might be a nice mid-day break. You can enjoy a nice lunch away from the crowds, then sight-see at the resort while your meal is digesting! On the same subject, have you ever taken the resort monorail from MK and visited the lobby of the Grand Floridian? Not to be missed!
This might seem like a silly question, but are guests that are staying at a different hotel, like the nemo one, of even another resort, able to go and look at the hotels and courtyards of the art of animation resort?
I didn’t see a photo credit, but please pass along my praise to whoever took those photos, especially the pool shot, that one is outstanding…and to the imagineers for knocking it out of the park both here and with Nemo. When you do, also give them a little whisper that a Wall-E hotel would be a-w-e-s-o-m-e if they find any other incomplete hotels lying around the property that could use a little love.

HOLY COW! That looks beyond awesome! This could end up being our favorite resort! My son loves Cars and my daughter loves The Little Mermaid, so we may have to do a split the next visit. Crazy, huh? 🙂
I’m not a huge fan of the value resorts but I want to stay here soooo bad!!! I love all things Mater and can’t wait to visit the resort during our stay at the Fort over Christmas.

They are on opposite ends of the resort, only four buildings away though.
The Little Mermaid (3), The Lion King (2), Finding Nemo (2), Cars (3) – in that order, left to right from the front.
How far is the Little Mermaid section anticipated to be from the Cars courtyard?
This area is still under construction, so I’m not sure of it’s location. I’ll try to find out. Please keep checking back for an update on this wing!
I am so excited to see this! We are bringing our three boys (7, 5, and 4) to Disney for the first time in early August! They are going to love this! Go Disney!

These pictures are GORGEOUS! The Art of Animation Resort is just incredible. I have never considered staying in a Value Resort before because they have never appealed to me — I thought they looked junky. But I would be THRILLED to stay in the Carsland rooms and the Nemo rooms that have been shown.
I wish they’d think about retiming some of the other properties like the music one or the Pop Century and turn them into beautiful themed hotels like Art of Animation. Would love to see a Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast retiming of Pop Century in the future. That would be incredible!
I live in Orlando, so I don’t have to stay at a resort while visiting the parks – but I saw how amazing this wing turned out and booked a room for my son’s birthday weekend! Can’t wait.
We have reservations in the Finding Nemo wing for my daughter’s 2nd birthday in October. My 4 year old son is going to flip when he sees Radiator Springs at our hotel. I am counting the days!
Both wings are lovely. The end of the Cars courtyard is only a 2-3 minutes walk from the Nemo area.

This sounds like a great place, but with Disney it’s always the best. I hope to get there in the near future. I also hope they put one in Florida. Congratulations Disney you are the best.
