Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! I use Father’s Day to give my Prince Charming “boy band” clothes he only wears on dates with me. They make him look so handsome and cute it’s more a gift for me than him!
Walt Disney World Moms Panelist Terry McKinney

Did you know that we have six dads on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel? Our dads bring some extra manly magic to the panel each day to help you plan your next Disney vacation.

If you’re looking for ways to let the dad in your life know just how awesome he is, Father’s Day and all summer long, here at Walt Disney World Resort, panelist Terry McKinney has some tips to share:

“I was never able to visit Disney as a kid and my first visit was when I was 21, so I’m catching up on the fun as an adult alongside my children,” Terry says. “We love spending time together in the parks and try to do things that include all four of us, like The Pirates League. What’s cooler than becoming pirates together?”

Terry also knows that dads like to relax, so he recommends some downtime at any of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. “They have so many fun things that Dad will enjoy, such as movies under the stars or even boat rentals if you want to go for a boat ride.”

For a photo finish to the fun, Terry suggests paying a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to watch Fantasmic! “For a guy, that’s a phenomenal show: the special effects, fireworks and lots of action. It’s a great way to end your day at the parks and it’s something my family sees every time we visit.”

If you’re a dad, Terry says one of the most important things to do is let loose once in a while and act like a kid. “This is the only place you can act like a kid and no one will look at you funny! For me, it’s all about seeing the excitement in my children’s eyes, and we love being able to have fun together as a family.”

How did you celebrate this Father’s Day? Tell me the ways you celebrate Dad Mickey-style.

  • Laura —

You are my favorite columnist on this site. Some of the reasons I like you are that you keep it real and you come off so friendly. I wish you lived in my neighborhood because when I read your column I feel like we’re sitting together at my kitchen table just gossiping. You are so fun! I really love the pictures you take, and your husband seems so nice and fun too. Keep up the great work!

If I could give you an idea for a future column, I’d love to see you do a take on the new Fantasyland Expansion and what moms are most looking forward to with that.

    • Thx Patricia! I heart you! I’m just a girl who loves my family, the Mouse, positive fairy people (like you) and shoes LOL!

  • Dear Ms. Spencer,

How wonderful, to include fathers on the Disney Moms Panel, because they bring a plethora of information and a new angle of perspective to planning and travelling to all Disney resorts around the world.

For us, growing up with and experiencing Disney through our children, gave us a unique picture of planning, travelling to and enjoying our vacations. Having an autistic child added an extra layer of co-ordinating and planning to allow us magical and memorable trips. Having completed over eighteen trips to Disney resorts and eight cruises attests to how wonderful a time we have when there.

My husband opens up easily about Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line to anyone that starts with “We’re going to Disney World…” and shares his unique perspective on finances, money saving tips, doing boy stuff such as the Richard Petty Driving Experience, golfing on property, visiting Disney’s Wide World of Sports and the water parks while allowing me to bask in all the girl stuff such as shopping and getting my nails done. I like golf, don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather buy my Dooney purses and Mickey trinkets and talk about them while being pampered, thank you. He even planned a cruise on the Disney Fantasy for my 49th birthday and is even doing all the celebratory planning for it and claims giving me a Disney trip is the easiest Birthday present ever!

Again, a very varied and knowledgeable group of people on the Disney Moms Panel, congratulations on all of your efforts! I love reading about your Panelists every week. Thank you!

    Best regards,

  • My family and I took my hubby to Downtown Disney on Saturday nite to celebrate Father’s Day. Its Free parking and Free admission. We window shopped, went to Basin and tried body salts, went into Lego store and played for a bit, then ended the evening by getting a Waffle Cone at Ghirardelli. Its just around $5 and enough for my 2 small boys, husband, and I to enjoy. Also have a question how do you become a Mom’s Panel Mom? I always see these posts of yours and long to put in my 2 cents. I was married at WDW and live super close as well. I am known as the Disney Diva to ALL my friends & family. I not only have Disney knowledge but love to help and inspire others. Take Downtown Disney, I’ve found many skip it. I don’t understand why. Its our favorite go to place when we have little or no money and want some Disney Magic!
