‘Old South’-Themed Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside Gets a New Look at Walt Disney World Resort

posted on July 3rd, 2012 by Michelle Baumann, Walt Disney World Public Relations

There’s been a lot of refreshing going on over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside lately.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, Newly Refurbished

Earlier this year, the majestic royal rooms opened and many of the guest rooms were renovated. Now the resort’s main lobby has a fresh new look. The two-month refurbishment included new tile, colorful rugs, decorative period lighting and some new furniture. The space is very inviting – it sure seems brighter and more spacious to me. Take a look.

I was there in May at the start of the renovation and half of the lobby was finished. I’ll miss the old look but the new was looking excellent. I will have to make a stop there on my next visit.

I LOVE this resort – my husband and I spent the better part of our honeymoon here back when it was Dixie Landings :) A few years later, we stayed again when we were with my Mom. We checked into the Dixie Landings, but checked out of Port Orleans Riverside ;) These renos look fantastic :)

Is it just my computer, or did all the text change to white? I can only read the comments if I highlight them…

So excited to see these!! We are also staying in September and cannot wait. My kids are “Princess and the Frog” fans (10 and 15, believe it or not) and helped us choose this resort.

32 days until my daughter and I check in for the first time at this resort. Can’t wait – and a royal room on top of the new lobby – is this just for us Princesses? :-)

Looks nice! That resort is my Disney home away from home. It’s great to see it looking so good.

Nice! Really looking forward to seeing this firsthand in Sept. for our first stay at POR. Also looking forward to experiencing the recently renovated Alligator Bayou rooms!
