Epcot Video Flashback: ‘Step Into Horizons’ Commercial

posted on September 24th, 2012 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

With the 30th anniversary of Epcot just one week away, we’ve decided to kick our coverage of Epcot history up a notch by sharing this early 1980s commercial for, you guessed it, Horizons.

This :30-second TV spot offers a peek inside the attraction, which offered a look at the future. I love how it transitions from 80s graphics to scenes from inside the attraction.

Enjoy your “step into Horizons”!

Watching this just brought a smile to my face. This was my favorite ride in all of Epcot Center. Miss it dearly.

That’s good to hear, Mark. It was one of my favorites, too.

I remember going on that many times as a child. I loved it. I was upset that none of that was actually being done for real. It all seemed so plausible at the time to a point. What is there now?

The lovely Mission Space, which actually has a nod to Horizons hidden in the queue.

Thank you times a MILLION! I loved watching this and I know I will pull it up whenever I need to smile. I am a child of the 80′s and this attraction will always be my favorite Epcot attraction.

Horizons was the best, along with Sea Base Alpha at The Living Seas! Will be there Monday for the celebration but sadly missing these two great attractions!!

Have a great time, Nancy. Monday should be a lot of fun.

Any more old Epcot commercial posts up your sleeves? Because it’s stuff like this I’d like to see more of.

Really love EPCOT but worried the future has past it by, so much potential for a re-do

Vintage commercials from the parks should be a series on the blog. Just like the Desktop Wallpapers and stuff.

EPCOT was always my favorite park! I really miss Horizons, Wonders of Life, Epcot former Entrance Music, Tomorrow’s Child playing on Space Ship Earth… Good old memories

“Tomorrow’s child…Tomorrow’s child…” Oh, it’s so in my head now.

I would love a series in vintage commercials, too! I had never seen this one, though Horizons was a favorite.

Oh, I remember that! Do any of the other “replacement rides” pay homage to their predecessors? Like World of Motion becoming Test Track, etc?
