Making the Perfect Baseball Bat in Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort

posted on October 16th, 2012 by Thomas Smith, Editorial Content Director, Disney Parks

If you ask me, baseball is best in October. And now is a great time to get a taste of baseball history by dropping in on Larry Steele at Downtown Disney. Larry makes wood bats the old fashioned way – he’s been doing it for 43 years. Watch and see how an artist creates the perfect baseball bat at Walt Disney World Resort.

Thank you, thank you for posting this!!! We are a HUGE baseball/softball family and I can’t wait to take my husband. Especially after I make him run the Food and Wine Half Marathon. What a treat for him AND the kids.

Thank you so much for posting this clip. I can not wait to take my son to have a custom bat made on our next WDW trip!

Larry made my bat in 2010, I had him sign the off-cut from the end. It was a real thrill to see your own bat take shape before your eyes! I recorded the whole thing.

Just curious, about how much do these bats cost? This would be an awesome Christmas present for my nephew! He has seen this and would love to have one of his own.

Do you have to make an appointment to watch your personal bat be constructed? or do you just show up and it is made on the spot?
