Halloween at the Walt Disney World Resort

New Fantasyland Live Chat Set for October 15 on the Disney Parks Blog

posted on October 9th, 2012 by Thomas Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks

Our first New Fantasyland live chat was so popular, we’re doing it again – and this time we’ve got more to share. On October 15 at 2 p.m., Creative Director with Walt Disney Imagineering Chris Beatty will join us here on the Disney Parks Blog to answer your questions and also share a few surprises.

Be Our Guest Restaurant, Part of New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park

Chris will be talking about all things New Fantasyland, including Be Our Guest Restaurant, Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid, Gaston’s Tavern, Belle’s Village, Enchanted Tales With Belle, Storybook Circus and more.

During the chat, we’ll be sharing something New Fantasyland-related that you’ve never seen before, so be sure and join us on Monday. This will be our final live chat on the topic before the official grand opening on December 6.

Also, please share any early questions you have in the comments section of this post and then check back on Monday at 2 p.m. See you then.

October 15th is my birthday and this is the 1st time I’m not taking the day off from work. So I won’t be able to join in. Of course, I didn’t take off because I’m heading to WDW later in the week so it’s not all bad.

Can you give any specifics about any events, ceremonies, pomp and circumstance, etc. that will be going on for the Grand Opening of New Fantasyland on December 6th beyond just limited edition merchandise special for the day? Will there be any opening day ceremonies or festivities, similar to the opening of The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure ride in Disney California Adventure Park last year where Jodi Benson and Alan Menken performed as part of the opening day ceremony? Any information and specifics you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

With the surprise soft opening of New Fantasyland on Friday, October 12th, can you tell us if New Fantasyland will be open to the general public as part of this soft opening everyday from now on, or only on certain days? Will it only be open for select hours or all day? I will be in WDW from October 17-22 and would LOVE to get to experience this new area.

33

Back in April on a post about Gaston’s Tavern, there was a question regarding whether or not alcohol would be served. Jennifer Fickley-Baker answered that she had confirmed that there would still be no alcohol served in the Magic Kingdom, as the tradition has always been. But I noticed that the menu for the Be Our Guest restaurant includes beer and wine. What prompted this decision?

34

Friend on October 15th, 2012 at 7:29 am

35

41

Belinda from FL on October 15th, 2012 at 1:44 pm

Will there be any other previews for the New Fantasyland (for annual passholders or DVC members) since the site crashed continuously then was full within 20 minutes? We were lucky enough to get to experience Dress Rehersals for Storytime with Belle on a recent visit, but would love to experience Ariel’s section and the Be our Guest Restaurants, etc.

42

Catherine on October 15th, 2012 at 1:44 pm

I heard that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train isn’t opening until 2014. Is that true? If so why is that ride taking so much more time to build that the others?

43
