Disneyland Ambassadors 1960s and ’70s: Where Are They Now?

by , Director, Publicity, Walt Disney Animation Studios

Last month, we named the new Disneyland Ambassadors for 2013-2014, Sachiko White and Megan Navarette. These young ladies will join a long-standing tradition which was started in 1965 by Walt Disney himself. Throughout the years, Disneyland Ambassadors have proudly represented the Disneyland Resort, and the tradition has spread to Disney Parks around the world. Over the next few weeks, we will be celebrating this tradition with a look at where some of our past Disneyland Ambassadors are now – in their own words – starting with some of those who served in the 1960s and ’70s.

“My husband (a former Disney cast member) and I live in Laguna Beach. I went back to school and I am now working on getting certified to be a preschool teacher. I also spend my free time with my grandchildren and tap dancing. My time as the Disneyland Ambassador gave me confidence in my abilities and made me realize how magical the Disney name really is. Even today, people I meet and talk with love anything Disney.”

“I live with my husband in Mission Viejo, and have my own property management business. I appreciate good health, family, friends, my Ambassador family and beautiful Southern California. Disney gave me a good part of what I use every day in life and I truly appreciate that.”

Kathy Smith Hall, 1975
“I live in Pacifica, a coastal town just south of San Francisco. Dave and I recently celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. We have two grown sons, Mike and Kevin. Mike is a graduate of Annapolis and a Navy veteran. Kevin is a Jungle Cruise skipper at Disneyland. Most of my time over the years has been dedicated to taking care of my family, but occasionally I have worked as a feature writer and an editorial photographer. Dave and I like to hike the seaside trails with our little dog, Widget.”

Susan Donald Edwards, 1977
“I am currently a substitute teacher. I love to do projects like paint custom children’s stools, quilting and craft projects galore.”
