Disney Parks After Dark: Japan Pavilion at Epcot

posted on January 3rd, 2013 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Editorial Content Manager

For this week’s Disney Parks After Dark, we’re heading to the Japan Pavilion at World Showcase at Epcot.

Did you know that our 83-foot-tall pagoda is modeled after one built at the Horyuji Temple in Nara, Japan? Each of the structure’s five stories represent one of the elements (earth, water, fire, wind and sky), which are key in Buddhist teachings.

Very pretty. I’ve always thought the Japan pavilion was one of the most beautiful in all the World Showcase.

I always hoped the Japan Pavillion would get a Mount Fugi attraction like the Matterhorn at Disneyland. It almost happened and was on the Imagineering boards back in the 80’s.
