Savvy Disneyland Resort fans know the best place to get up-close with what’s coming up next at the Happiest Place on Earth is Blue Sky Cellar at Disney California Adventure park. Every so often, this exhibit space closes temporarily so Walt Disney Imagineering can add new items showing what they’re working on next at the Resort.

Blue Sky Cellar closed yesterday for its latest update and will reopen January 19 to feature artwork and models for our next experience, Fantasy Faire at Disneyland park. As we’ve told you here on the Disney Parks Blog, Fantasy Faire – which opens in spring 2013 – will be an enchanting village square where guests will be immersed in the stories of their favorite Disney princesses.

Also featured in this update will be the artwork that Shawn showed you in his announcement for “Mickey and the Magical Map,” that will open this summer in Fantasyland Theatre.

Be sure to stop by Blue Sky Cellar after it reopens on January 19 and get an up-close look at what is coming to Disneyland park in 2013!

  • I saw this exhibit at the Blue Sky Cellar yesterday.

I LOVE how detailed this area is going to be, there’s going to be some really fun things for people to explore and interacte with, and I love the fact that there is going to be an animatronic of Figaro (the cat) on a windowsill interacting with an animatronic bird.

Also, I think its really great that there is going to be a tribute to the Carnation Plaza Gardens (a royal crest with the letters “CPG”)

  • Well said Robert.

I have taken a look at the construction for Fantasy Fair, and this area looks like it will fit in fine. All of the structures are in the right scale and thankfully, they will not dwarf the castle.

One of the best parts of this that that the Fantasyland theater is now free to have a show again, and I’m really looking forward to it.

It should also be noted that swing dancing will still be held at night on that stage, which is another example of how Disneyland perseveres old aspects even while making changes.

  • I just booked my trip to Disneyland this morning for my birthday in April, the week of the 12th-19th! I SUPER hope the Fantasy Faire is open by then!! 🙂

  • Walt said Disneyland would never be completed. We have all seen favorite attractions go away, Skyway, Flying Saucers, Rainbow Ridge, and now Carnation Plaza. One of the main reasons for removing attractions is lack of space. It’s a fact of life and we must deal with it. Hold on to your memories of your favorites and try to embrace the changes. They will continue.

  • I’m really excited to see this new exhibit! The model for the new Fantasy Faire looks fantastic!

But, what’s going to happen to the Radiator Springs Historical Society exhibit? I absolutely love that stuff and it fits in so well into Cars Land. I hope it can be incorporated somewhere else. PLEASE! 🙂

  • Aw man I am going on the 18th for my birthday which is the 17th. Probably won’t go back until February. 🙁

  • To be honest I’m not a fan of this. It’s breaking the effect of each land has its own entrance and this throws the castle off. I like the look but it took away a piece of the classic original park you could get away from the crowds at times.

  • We are SUPER excited for our trip in May! Do you know if the new Fantasy Faire will be open the weekend before Memorial Day? (Fingers crossed you say yes….) Thanks and Happy New Year!

    • I hope to have an opening date soon, Trish, so stay tuned!

  • Awesome! I’m looking forward to this. Its good to know that Blue Sky Cellar will still be used a a preview center.
