Off to See the Wizard: ‘Journey to Oz Balloon Tour’ Visits the Disneyland Resort

During its nationwide journey to celebrate the March 8 release of “Oz The Great and Powerful,” the “Journey to Oz Balloon Tour” made a stop at the Disneyland Resort here in Southern California last weekend. The enormous bright blue balloon, trimmed in red fringe, inflated in the Esplanade and delighted guests as it hovered overhead. I had the privilege of being at this event with our Disney Parks Blog video crew. We captured all the fun and even had a chance to chat with the pilots, Scott and Laurie Spencer. They have a long history of piloting Disney balloons, and we always enjoy working with them. The “Journey to Oz Balloon Tour” will stop next at the Daytona 500 in Florida and at Central Park in New York City, where you’ll see it on “Good Morning America” on ABC.

  • Awesome!

I did not get to the resort early enough to see it, so I’m glad that there is video here on the blog.

  • Ah… Now I know why I didn’t see the balloon float out of Disney’s lot (which I can see from my office window). They deflated it and transported it to Anaheim via the 5? That’s not very wizardly!
