Get a Sneak Peek at A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas at Magic Kingdom Park

posted on April 8th, 2013 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Are you ready to experience a whole new pirate adventure?

Walt Disney Imagineering just shared a sneak peek at the new interactive quest, A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas, which will debut at Magic Kingdom Park this summer.

In the game, the fate of piracy in the Caribbean rests in the hands of new pirate recruits, who, armed with magic talismans and treasure maps, embark on five different pirate raids throughout Adventureland to collect valuable treasures, while Captain Jack Sparrow’s magic compass guides them.

Here, Imagineers Jonathan Ackley and Matt Beiler offer up a look at a few of the quest’s cool special effects.

A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas will be included with Magic Kingdom Park admission and is open to guests of all ages.

Now, which of you are ready to join the ranks of a new recruit?

Is this going to be in addition to Sorceror’s of the Magic Kingdom or is it going to be replacing it?

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 8th, 2013 at 10:05 am

This is a separate experience from Sorcerers.

Amber from FL on April 8th, 2013 at 10:07 am

Will this be working soon? Or maybe have special sneak peeks for passholders??? :) My sons are going to LOVE this!!!! We’ll be there on Friday, I suppose that’s too soon for us to check it out?

Kimberly from AL on April 8th, 2013 at 10:13 am

Is this replacing the regular Pirates of the Caribbean ride that was just re-vamped a few years back or is this a separate ride? Just wondering because we missed it last time because it was under re-construction and did not want to miss it again.

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 8th, 2013 at 10:20 am

No, our classic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is still there. This is a separate, outdoor experience in Adventureland.

Maureen on April 8th, 2013 at 10:14 am

We did the in park quest at Epcot. Loved it! So glad you’re adding pirates in adventureland. We’ll be looking forward to it!

Will this replace the Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom locations in Adventureland?

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 8th, 2013 at 11:01 am

No, this is actually a separate experience in Adventureland.

Ernest on April 8th, 2013 at 11:22 am

Any idea how long the quest will take to complete?

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 8th, 2013 at 11:37 am

There are actually five different pirate raids that are a part of the quest. It is up to you how many you play.

13

Sarah on April 8th, 2013 at 11:26 am

I can’t wait to play this when it opens!

14

Daniel on April 8th, 2013 at 11:36 am

Where would you begin this, or in other words how would you get started ?

15

Maggie from OH on April 8th, 2013 at 11:57 am

I am not sure I quite understand. Is this like the Kim Possible thing that was at Epcot, where you pick something up and play throughout the park? Or is it a self-contained walk through attraction in Adventureland?

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 8th, 2013 at 12:04 pm

You pick up a talisman and map, and play throughout Adventureland. :)

16

Tracey from PA on April 8th, 2013 at 12:28 pm

Hooray! Hope this is open when we go the end of June!

17

Aaron on April 8th, 2013 at 2:01 pm

Will this game be included with park admission or will it cost extra?

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 8th, 2013 at 2:35 pm

It is included in admission.

18

Philip on April 8th, 2013 at 6:52 pm

I’m looking forward to trying this.

Once this thing is up and running, I really hope Jonathan Ackley will get straight to work on fixing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and expanding that game to Tomorrowland, New Fantasyland, etc. as well as adding portals to help with the crowds and introducing more new spell cards.

Kenny on April 8th, 2013 at 7:39 pm

I loved me some Shrunken Ned’s Boats, so I have some high hopes for this!

20

Stefani on April 8th, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Does this have something to do with the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse being under renovation?

21

Therese from FL on April 8th, 2013 at 9:20 pm

I can hardly wait! I hope it will be in different locations and not in the way of Scorcerer’s seeking their magic. Great thing to doon busy days! Glad I’m a Passholder so I can start looking for treasures right away.

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 9th, 2013 at 10:21 am

I hope you enjoy it, Terese.

22

Lacy from NC on April 9th, 2013 at 1:07 pm

I can’t wait to try this out. I am a big kid at heart and hope to have fun doing this adventure with my husband when we go end of September into the first week of October. My husband are members of a pirate guild in NC, and I hope to take tons of photos to share with our crew.

Jennifer Fickley-Baker on April 10th, 2013 at 9:35 am

Wow, sounds like this is perfect for you both. Have fun!

23

Gail on April 9th, 2013 at 1:12 pm

Will they have this at Disneyland?

24

Scott on April 9th, 2013 at 4:12 pm

This attraction looks great! Can you confirm if that is Johnny Depp portraying Jack after the compass spins? Thanks!

25

Chris on April 10th, 2013 at 10:58 am

Will this be located by the Pirates ride?

26

Ian on April 11th, 2013 at 4:58 pm

I miss 1995 – 2000 when this experience was The Adventureland Challenge, hosted by Col. Wayne P. McSwagger and his fallen Jungle Cruise Skipper lacky.
