One thing I miss from my youth is having a three-month summer vacation. My parents were both teachers, so my sister and I spent many summers together with them while growing up in Ohio. Granted, I feel like I’m on a sort of perpetual vacation working for Disney (I mean I work in the happiest place on earth!). Summer is a prime travel time for many guests wanting to visit Disney Parks. My first visit to Walt Disney World Resort was during a summer break in 1983. I caught up with merchandiser John Smith to learn more about new shirts designed with summer in mind.
“We recently introduced four new summer-themed shirts following the success of our Spring Break shirts released a few months ago,” explained John. “I selected bright colors for the shirts including one of the most popular tee-shirt colors, white. The graphics were inspired by four different stories – family vacations; photographs taken on trips; a desire to disconnect; and attire that advertises to the world that you are on vacation.”
I found the Walt Disney World Resort versions of these shirts at the World of Disney in Downtown
Disney Marketplace. John shared that there are similar styles featuring icons from the Disneyland Resort for guests in California. At this time, these shirts will not be offered via the Disney Parks online store.
So, where are you going on vacation this summer?
