The D23 Expo is kicking off with a few folks that know a thing or two about magical starts.

D23 Expo to Kick off with runDisney D2.3 Fun Run

On Friday, August 9, runDisney will be hosting a 2.3-mile fun run for D23 Members. The morning event will lead runners down main streets and through castles in classic runDisney style. Of course, there will also be little pixie dust sprinkled along the way, so itโ€™ll be an experience a runner wonโ€™t want to miss.

To RSVP, send your full name and D23 membership number to DLR.SportsMeetUps@Disney.com. Only a limited number of qualified D23 Members will be selected to participate, so be one of the first to apply.

Fans can join D23 at www.D23.com and at www.DisneyStore.com/D23.

In the meantime, here are a few things you should know:

  • All selected participants must be available for a 5:45 a.m. PT start time on Friday, August 9.
  • Qualified applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A D23 membership number must be submitted at the time of application, and is non-transferable.
  • A valid photo ID is required. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Limit to one RSVP per individual. Applicants sending RSVPs from more than one email address will be disqualified.
  • Valid RSVPs must include your name. RSVPs that include more than one person or are missing information (e.g. incomplete names) will not be accepted.
  • Admittance to the event is non-transferable and limited to the selected applicant; no additional guests please.
  • The event is subject to change or cancellation without notice.
  • Because this is a running-oriented event, we require that applicants be experienced runners, able to maintain a 12-minute per mile pace (qualified).
  • Selected applicants attending the meet-up are not required to purchase admission.
  • We will send an email to selected applicants who sent their valid RSVP via email before we reached capacity to confirm their attendance for Friday. We plan to send this email at approximately 2 p.m. PT today, and we will also post a link on the Disney Parks Blog that will include a list of names of all selected applicants. If you do not receive an email from us confirming your reservation and your name does not appear on the list of selected applicants, your RSVP was not selected.

Comments

  • Good morning,
I was wondering if there was a wait list or a standby list for the D2.3 fun run tomorrow? I live near by and I don’t mind just showing up in the morning on last minute notice.thanks

  • Will the RunDisney New Balance Mickey and Minnie sneakers be sold at the run?

  • Add me to the list of disappointed by the short notice. When my wife heard about this, she was super excited because she loves running! She just completed her 78th marathon and she was really looking forward to this event to kick off D23 this year. We’re hoping that this isn’t a foreshadowing of how things are going to go at D23 next month. We’re charter members and had a great time at the 1st expo.

  • I too am very disappointed that my email was kicked backed due to the error on this blog page. I emailed a few times to show proof of the time stamp and the undeliverable email. I am now seeing that questions won’t be answered with the email address, without the period added, noted here. So bummed over this. Hopefully, this is something that will be watched in the future. Thank you for your time.

  • curious how you selected those folks….

  • I’ve been watching for this everyday waiting for the details. 2-3, to 4 x’s a day have checked. Even checked this morning & it wasn’t listed, just checked again and found out I missed it. Disappointed so limited in space & didn’t give a pre- advance notice as to when you could try to sign up. So Bummed, my daughters & I were so excited to get to do this fun run!! Better notice next time would be nice.

  • I am really upset of how fast this sold out. Unless you were sitting in front of the computer all day on twitter, there was no chance of you getting in. I run a 7 minute mile, and have been wanting to do one of these for awhile now. But often times Run Disney is too expensive for me, with having a great D23 type of discount and it being a fun-run to kickoff my D23 weekend I am very upset I was unable to do this run. Maybe next Expo.
Next time D23 should have 3-4 running times where one start at 6:00am, next 6:15, 6:30 ect. so more people are able to participate in the run.

  • Only 50 people for the run? Why such a small list? I don’t like how the sign up was associated with the actual announcement. No room for planning. I have been watching all of the Disney sites for the info all week and then BAM, info., sign up, full, in the blink of an eye. It would have been better to do a lottery or drawing for the 50 people. Or allowed the Charter Members of D23 priority to the event. I think the Charter Members need more perks. We have been here with D23 from the beginning after all.

  • Is there going to be a stand-by/back-up list in case anyone cancels or no-shows for the run? I really wanted to do this!

  • I find it unusual that the event sign up announcement was also the immediate sign up time. I’ve been checking the blog all week. Usually a sign up time is announced ahead of time so one can be prepared. Is this the way all RunDisney event sign ups are handled?

  • I’m very heartbroken. I’ve been checking back to the blog almost every hour since the announcement last week, I go to the grocery store for my grandmother for 45 minutes and come back to find the details were finally released AND the run is already at capacity while I was gone. What!?! I was soo excited that I may finally be getting to run in a Disney race. But alas.

Well, I guess I still have the Expo. And Disneyland. And DCA. And the Disneyland Hotel. And Downtown Disney. And…ok, I’m not that bad off ๐Ÿ™‚ But still……………

  • I’m a little heartbroken that my email got bounced back and now I won’t get in. Best of luck to all fellow runDisney-ers (Disney runners?) who noticed the error early enough :0 I’m super happy for you, but admittedly, pretty darn jealous! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • The email bounced back because when you click on it the period at the end of the sentence gets copied as well.

I sent it again once I realized the error. I hope I made the cut ๐Ÿ™

  • I’ve been waiting for this announcement all week and I was so late checking the blog today. ๐Ÿ™ I hope I’m not too late to get a spot. This run would make me feel better about the Dumbo Double Dare training I’ll be missing while,at the expo all weekend.

  • C’mon 5PM Pacific time…fingers crossed!

  • **crossing my fingers**

  • ๐Ÿ™ Disappointed. I assumed that since it was a Fun Run that there wouldn’t be such a stringent requirement of 12 minute miles. Especially since other runDisney events say 16 minute miles. Not-so-fun start to the Expo.

  • Is anybody else getting the mail returned?
