Disney Villains Take on Famous Roles in The Haunted Mansion

posted on September 13th, 2013 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Our Yellow Shoes Creative Group gets to work on some pretty creative projects, and I have to say that this is one of the coolest I’ve seen. This artwork was created to promote Unleash the Villains, a “Friday the 13th” celebration that will take place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios tonight – and we just had to share it with you.

Captain Hook Takes on a Famous Role in The Haunted Mansion Cruella De Vil Takes on a Famous Role in The Haunted Mansion Maleficent Takes on a Famous Role in The Haunted Mansion The Queen of Hearts Takes on a Famous Role in The Haunted Mansion

In them, Captain Hook takes the place of the ballerina who teeters precariously on a rope strung above a waiting alligator; Cruella De Vil and her henchmen sink in the quicksand; Maleficent sits atop a gravestone of a clobbered companion; and the Queen of Hearts stands atop a bucket of red paint (instead of a barrel of dynamite).

These are all great! The Mistress of All Evil is my favorite though. She is the best Disney Villain.

Jennifer on September 13th, 2013 at 9:09 am

I want all 3! My favorite is either Hook or Queen of Hearts, though!

Christopher on September 13th, 2013 at 9:09 am

Love them all, but Captain Hook is great!

“. . . Captain Hook takes the place of the ballerina who teeters precariously on a rope strung above a waiting alligator. . .”

But Tick-Tock’s a crocodile! ;-)

But love all of these :)

These are so much fun! My favorite traditional painting is the ballerina over the alligator (I also have a pin with Minnie over Tick-Tock), but I think Cruella and the boys sinking in quick sand is my favorite among these altered versions. Wonder if there will be any guest appearances among the residents of the Haunted Mansion… there’s room for one more!

Jennifer on September 13th, 2013 at 9:37 am

Maleficent!

13

Rochelle on September 13th, 2013 at 9:42 am

No Lady Tremaine as the Corpse Bride?!

Jonathan on September 13th, 2013 at 9:56 am

I really like all four of them..Perhaps a slight edge towards Hook. Are these designs used on a set of merchandise items? If so, what type of merchandise, and how can we purchase?

15

Allan on September 13th, 2013 at 10:01 am

How and where can we get these?

Are these going to be available at Disneyland too? I’m going tonight.

21

Crystal from VA on September 13th, 2013 at 11:58 am

Maleficent has always been my favorite villain, but how true to form for Cruella to be riding on Jasper and Horace’s shoulders in the quick sand. I think that one is my favorite.

George on September 13th, 2013 at 12:03 pm

I believe Jennifer is referring to the original Ballerina that Captian Hook is taking the place of, as she is the one standing over an alligator.

23

Sandra on September 13th, 2013 at 12:14 pm

WhaHoooooo!!! We’ll be there tonight!

24

Hilary on September 13th, 2013 at 12:16 pm

Jennifer you have been posting up a storm of great articles the last few days. I am loving it! You find the greatest stuff. These pictures are AMAZING. My favorite is Maleficent. I hope they do a whole series of these and include my other favorite villains in the future: Queen Grimhilde from Snow White and Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog.

Sherri from OH on September 19th, 2013 at 10:29 am

Are these posters for sale? Maleficent is my youngest daughters favorite villain. And the haunted mansion is my oldest daughters favorite ride. I even had a cake made of the haunted mansion for her 16th birthday and she has the stretch posters framed in her room. It would make a great gift. I hope they will be available for purchase on the website.

Celia on September 25th, 2013 at 12:52 pm
