Disney Parks After Dark: Phantom Manor in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris

posted on October 10th, 2013 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Tonight’s “Disney Parks After Dark” photos were snapped in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris of one of the park’s spookiest attractions – Phantom Manor, the park’s version of what we know here at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts as The Haunted Mansion.

Phantom Manor opened at Disneyland Paris April 12, 1992, in the Frontierland area of the park. This attraction features a slightly different backstory than The Haunted Mansion. It specifically focuses on the Ravenswood family, Western settlers who struck it rich during the gold rush and were later affected by a series of mysterious demises.

As a child I refused to go into the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. My cousins would laugh and scream in delight after their third visit in one day. Once night fell on the park, the building is uplit by all the amazing light – the house looked just that much more scary! I would look on from the outside with fear in my eyes! This was 1975! Now this is one of my favourite rides. My son is now 19, but I remember one of our first visits to the park and instantly recognized the same look in his eyes…only he was much braver than I ever was. Love the Haunted Mansion and it is one of my must dos each time I visit Disneyland!

Haunted Mansion (at either US parks), Tower of Terror (either version), even Pirates of the Caribbean (either version) has an added allure at night. Frighteningly fun!

Love this ride…. Agreed Disneyland paris’s version slightly trumps disneyworld’s. the outside of the attraction in Paris is spookier and as it sits on a hill it looks more daunting.
