Year in Review: Anniversaries at the Disneyland Resort

posted on December 27th, 2013 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

We had a lot to celebrate this year! From the 50th anniversary of the beloved Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room to anniversaries of new classics like “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular,” 2013 reminded us of what we love so much about the Disneyland Resort.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – For its 50th anniversary we talked to Disney Legend Rolly Crump, who helped create this classic attraction.

New Fantasyland at Disneyland Park – This year marked the 30th anniversary of the New Fantasyland at Disneyland park, and to mark the occasion, George shared the interactive image above, showing Fantasyland before and after this reimagining.

Mickey’s Toontown – On the 20th anniversary of Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park, George Savvas shared photos from the grand opening celebration, featuring celebrities such as Robin Williams, Sally Field and Steven Spielberg.

“Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” – This year, we celebrated 10 years of “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” at Disney California Adventure park. This favorite has been seen by more than 12 million guests and counting.

Disney Junior: Live on Stage! – To celebrate 10 years of Disney Junior: Live on Stage! (originally Playhouse Disney: Live on Stage!) at Disney California Adventure park, we met twin brothers Scott and James Silson, puppetmasters who keep the show going strong 10 years after its opening.

Whoa! I hadn’t realized how old Toon Town was! I remember when it first opened we came (on accident) for the ‘soft opening’ – we had no idea it was even being built! One of my favorite teenage memories =)
