Meet the Horses of the Disneyland Resort: Reggie and Brother

Hey there all you Disneyland horse lovers. This is the first in a series designed to help you get to know our equine cast members just a little bit better. We’re starting with Reggie and Brother, who you may recognize from some of their city parade appearances we’ve featured here on the Disney Parks Blog. In addition to parades, and pulling the Main Street Trolley, Reggie and Brother are also the coach horses for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings here at the Disneyland Resort.

This is Reggie.

Reggie is a shire draft horse. He’s 13 years old and weighs 1800 lbs. He stands 17.1 hands, or 5’7”, at the spot just at the end of his neck.

Fun fact: Reggie and his coach partner, Brother, were in the “Give a Day, Get a Day” television commercial along with Miss Piggy, Taye Diggs and a few of their Muppet friends. He also competes in horse shows for the Disneyland Resort and really seems to enjoy any kind of special attention that comes along with it!

This is Brother.

He’s also a shire draft horse. Brother and Reggie have the same dad and came to the Disneyland Resort together from Blackpark Farms in Canada. Brother and Reggie are the same age, and have the same height and weight, which is why it’s often hard to tell them apart. (Hint: Brother is the one with the pink nose).

Fun fact: Brother is not a “morning horse” and prefers to spend the morning sleeping in the sun and working the later shifts.

I’ll be back soon to introduce you to more of our equine cast members, so keep an eye here on the Disney Parks Blog.

  • Isn’t that the funniest thing about Brother not being a “morning” horse?! Love it & them! Thanks for sharing!

  • I love the Disney horses! Hope you will introduce us to the Disney World horses too, including the ones on the trail ride at Ft Wilderness.

  • My daughter’s favorite horse is Brother! We always have to look for him when we go down to Disneyland. We love you, Brother!

  • Thank you for sharing the equine stories of Disney. I love it! Can’t wait to see the next article.

  • Great article. Continue with more stories of other Disneyland animals!

  • Beautiful boys! I didn’t know Disney competed in horse shows. Very cool, thanks for sharing 🙂

  • I love this! They are beautiful. That is the best fun fact ever that Brother is not a “morning horse”…… Brought a huge smile to my face. Nice to put a name with the horse now when I am visiting.

  • I love the horses at Disneyland! I’m so glad they have been bringing them out at Thunder Ranch for us to meet. I also always look at the name tag inside the Trolley to see who is pulling that day. I’ve gotten to where I can recognize some w/o the name tag! Brother and Reggie are two of my favorites (and yes, I have a hard time telling them apart!). I would like to hear about the newest horse, Duke, whom I’ve not seen yet. He was acquired in a trade for Venus (I think that was her name – black and white female?).

    • Hi Irene,
That’s my favorite game to play: Guess the Main Street Horse! I hope this series will help more guests recognize our four legged Cast Members. Stay tuned, we’ll be introducing Duke to the Disney Parks Blog shortly!

  • Hi Donna,

I am an avid horse lover and rider and would like to express my gratitude at how well the horses are cared for at all Disney Parks, which I find impressive.

This series looks to be very enjoyable and I look forward to reading more of your posts. Thank you for your time and the sharing of your information.

    Best regards,
    Jackie

  • So, does Brother have a Sister named. “Sister?” 🙂
