A New Way to End Your Walt Disney World Resort Day: ‘Epcot After-Hours Wind Down’

posted on April 11th, 2014 by Pam Brandon, Disney Parks Food Writer

Just imagine, after IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth fireworks show at Epcot, instead of heading to your car or back to the resort, you could head to one of four spots in World Showcase for end-of-day relaxation with appetizers and beverages.

You can do just that beginning April 17 through September 15. Choose either La Cava del Tequila at the Mexico Pavilion; Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion; Tutto Gusto in the Italy Pavilion, or Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom Pavilion. Each location will have small bites paired with a beverage flight (additional beverages can be purchased) from 9:20 – 11 p.m. It’s a magical time as the park quiets down.

Cost is $35, plus tax and gratuity. To make a reservation, go to, call 407-WDW-DINE, or check in with Epcot Guest Relations to see if space is available.

This looks like fun! Are there accommodations for food allergies?

Sally from FL on April 11th, 2014 at 3:44 pm

Is this after hours lounge event for Adults Only? Hope so!

Katherine on April 11th, 2014 at 3:52 pm

How does this work with Extra Magic Hours? If World Showcase is open until 11:00pm, what would be the incentive for paying the extra $35 to sit inside a still open Rose and Crown?

Maxime on April 11th, 2014 at 4:07 pm

what do you mean by beverage flight ?? Only one beverage by person ?

Jamie-Lyn from ON on April 11th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Is this adults only?

Jason on April 11th, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Will Tables in Wonderland be accepted?

Holly on April 11th, 2014 at 5:16 pm

I think this is a great way to minimize the overcrowding of the Disney transportation after IllumiNations! I hope it will be extended or at least offered during the Holidays!

Karrie from TX on April 11th, 2014 at 5:22 pm

That is so awesome, I can hardly stand it! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve tried to get to La Cava before they close and they’d be closed before Illuminations even started. Am wondering though, would Disney buses still be running after 11 to take the loopy passengers back to their hotel! :-) Thanks, Disney!

Maria Anne from FL on April 11th, 2014 at 5:23 pm

This idea does not appeal to me. Why do I want to pay $35 more just to stay later, have a drink and a bite at one place, and wander around World Showcase after park closing when there are still people wandering around heading to the entrance, but shopping along the way? I can get a whole meal for $35 with a drink. I don’t understand why this is an event.

Melissa from NC on April 11th, 2014 at 5:31 pm

This is so awesome! We need a kids wind down place too so they can watch some movies and chill while we do!

Angela on April 11th, 2014 at 5:33 pm

There is conflicting info on the reservation site. It says it includes one drink not a flight. Does it depend on the location?

Ted from IL on April 11th, 2014 at 6:01 pm

I’ll just go to The Refreshment Port and get some Chicken Nuggets and a Cronut..

Chuck on April 11th, 2014 at 6:06 pm

When we reservations open for this?

Kim from UT on April 11th, 2014 at 6:27 pm

I like this direction! I’ve booked Cava del Tequila for two weeks from today. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to purchase additional drinks? Since their selection is all shots, it’s not exactly something I can sip on for 90 minutes.

Also curious about the answers to previously asked questions about whether it is 21+ only and whether Tables in Wonderland will be accepted.

Dustin on April 11th, 2014 at 7:12 pm

Great idea Disney. Can these packages be shared amongst those in your party?

Bryce on April 11th, 2014 at 7:13 pm

@Maxime A flight is typically a small sampling of multiple drinks. think of it as 3-5 (typically) small glasses of beer/drinks/liquor.

Susana on April 11th, 2014 at 7:15 pm

Love this! Will Tables in Wonderland be added? Is this strictly for adults?

Melissa from MS on April 11th, 2014 at 8:05 pm

It’s awesome to have a place to spend time with adults after hours. I used to love leaving the parks and heading to Pleasure Island. Seeing this makes me miss the Adventurers Club even more. Will there be any entertainment in these locations?

Christopher on April 11th, 2014 at 9:26 pm

I’d really like to check this out. Will there be resort transportation that late?

Dawn from MA on April 11th, 2014 at 10:41 pm

Kim, Cave del Tequila isn’t just shots. They also have a large variety of margaritas, wine, and beer.

Kim from UT on April 12th, 2014 at 12:28 pm

@Dawn Yes I know that, but the menu for this event is a flight of tequila shots.

Scott from MO on April 13th, 2014 at 1:42 am

@Kim It says in the description that you can order additional beverages in addition to the flight that comes with the package.

Jaclyn on April 13th, 2014 at 10:39 pm

AWESOME!!! Now I just have to figure out which one to choose. Does anyone know the menu for Rose and Crown? I saw the others but, Rose and Crown didn’t have the afterhours event menu up.

Camille from OR on April 14th, 2014 at 10:58 am

This is really good for 2 reasons…
1. It will help with everybody leaving and getting on the bus at the same time.
2. We’re from the west coast and on a 3 hr difference, so after Illuminations we usually have more energy in us.

And kids should of course be allowed, what will people do with them otherwise? If it bothers you go to the Mexico Pavilion and get a delicious margarita :)

Bill from NY on April 14th, 2014 at 3:04 pm

I doubt Tables in Wonderland will be accepted for this. Since each venue is advertised for the same price but only 2 of the 4 venues currently accept Tables in Wonderland seems like it would make for some weird bookkeeping! It’s disappointing there’s no official word though.

marianne on April 16th, 2014 at 4:44 pm

It is for ages 21 and older only.

Michael on April 20th, 2014 at 11:55 am

Did you get clarification on whether the Rose and Crown Pub will remain open to the public during extra magic hours? Or will this new Wind Down Even take over the Pub area of Rose and Crown? We enjoy utlizing our Tables in Wonderland discount in the Pub during extra magic hours, it has always been our wind down place!

lisa on April 20th, 2014 at 9:11 pm

This is amazing! I went to Italy last night. The wine flight and excellent food was totally worth the $35 and it was so nice to avoid crowds. It felt like we had the whole park to ourselves!

Kim from MB on April 25th, 2014 at 5:28 pm

This sounds like a really interesting idea. Will there be non-alcoholic beverage flights for our friends that are non-drinkers? It would be a shame for them to feel left out.

Maggie on April 25th, 2014 at 7:16 pm

What’s even more fun is going on a do it yourself “Pub Crawl” around the World in Epcot – we’ve done it several times and have a great time. Start at Mexico for a multi layered frozen Margarita from their kiosk and then go from one country to the next sampling drinks from each one – most of them have bars in the restaurants. One of the things we like most about a night at EPCOT!

Holly on April 25th, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Going in September, if successful will you consider extending it?

Celya from KY on May 6th, 2014 at 6:00 pm

Will this be extended for the fall? I sure hope so!!!!

Andrew from NC on June 19th, 2014 at 11:54 pm

Just got back; Tables in Wonderland was not accepted at Tutto Gusto (even though it is listed as a TiW compatible)
