First Look: Feast Your Eyes On Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Characters

posted on April 11th, 2014 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Earlier today, Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, spoke at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Anaheim, Calif., and shared updates on what’s new at Disney Parks around the world. During the presentation he unveiled a video that offered the first look at some of the amazing new characters who will be part of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. These are some of the most advanced Audio-Animatronics figures Walt Disney Imagineering has ever created.

See for yourself in the video below.

It looks like the same type of animatronic to the Cars ride? With the unique look of projectors too? When you ride the Cars racers, the eyes on the actual ride vehicles. Apart from that, the new tech looks incredible!

When I first heard you were closing the original Snow White ride and opening this coaster I had hoped that you would reuse some of the original Dwarf figures as a tribute to the closed attraction. Seeing these figures though, I’m really glad you didn’t do that.

Tell me, in person, do their faces glow as much as they do in the video?

I don’t even want to think about the extreme difficulty in getting a projection mapped face (eyes/mouth) to match up a moving animatronic face that well. And to get the lighting to work as well with that projection. That is an engineering feat in and of itself.

These animatronics look amazing. Spectacular work and will bring so much life and character (ha) to the ride. Can not wait to see it all put together in one cohesive whole, from landscaping to characters.
