Relaxing at the Disneyland Resort is one of the best ways to spend a summer day. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love cooling off on Splash Mountain at Disneyland park or dropping by The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure park. However, a rejuvenating break has many times been the key to staying energized for “Magical” fireworks spectacular or “World of Color.” Today, I’m continuing the “Disneyland Resort Summer Tips” series with a few great locations to spend a few minutes off your feet.

  • Rest your feet at a show – “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” is a must-do at Disney California Adventure park, and I recommend an afternoon performance because the show runs close to an hour, allowing for a nice escape from the summer heat. If you are visiting Disneyland park on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, head over to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree for “The Music of: Nashville.” This all-new entertainment experience features original tunes from the hit television show along with some of your favorites from the country music charts. Lastly, journey to imagination during “Mickey and the Magical Map” in the Fantasyland Theatre! Be sure to stop by the Troubadour Tavern for a snack as you watch the show.

  • Enjoy a light meal and speciality beverage – The lounges at the Disneyland Resort are easily at the top of the list when looking for ways to relax. I recommend visiting the the Alfresco Tasting Terrace to try the newly updated menu, including “The Disney Family of Wines.” Also at the Golden Vine Winery at Disney California Adventure park, stop by the Sonoma Terrace for a California crafted beer and a Bavarian pretzel. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel is a fan favorite and a great way to unwind after a full day in the parks. If you haven’t had a chance to experience this enchanted location, make sure and add it to your must-do list!

  • The outside portion of Trader Sam’s has great seating and a relaxed island-inspired feel. Also, must give a shout out to Aladdin, my favorite attraction in the entire resort (but not for a nap!).

  • I agree that the Aladdin show is a great, cool break and a GREAT SHOW! So much more than I expected. My favorite little treasure is the bar at Carthay Circle. The children’s menu of grilled cheese and tomato soup is perfect for my little guy and the adults can sip a glass of wine in the cool, peaceful room! You can also charge your cell phone in the wall!!!

  • The lobby of the Grand Californian, with a live pianist playing Disney tunes. Not relaxed enough? Try the fireplace just outside where they have movie nights.

  • A beautiful place to take a break, and technically not in either park, is the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel! The architecture is amazing and, at times, they have a pianist playing Disney tunes. There is also a fireplace to sit in front of on those cold winter days. Simply breathtaking!

  • The back portion of the upper deck of the Hungry Bear Restaurant, overlooking the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Good food and a peaceful environment.

  • The gardens around Paradise Garden Grill are a perfect place to enjoy a light lunch and relax in the shade.

  • I love taking a break at Innovations in Tomorrowland. ASIMO the robot is a glimpse of the future.

  • We loved Ariel’s Undersea Adventure for a spot to cool off and sit for a bit! We rode 7 times in one night! My girls loved that ride and so did I!

  • A few steps up from the foot traffic of DCA is a hidden gem. I was amazed at the transformation from park excitement to the look and feel of wine country at the Alfresco Terrace. Enjoyed evening cocktails with appetizers and watched the lights at Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Cars Land turn on during sunset. It was very relaxing and magical!

  • The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is a good option to rest your feet. The line moves rather quickly and you get to enjoy some swashbuckling adventures while sitting!

    • Absolutely, Bob! Both Pirates of the Caribbean and “it’s a small world” are great attractions for a few minutes off your feet!
