Happy Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure Park

Once again this year, we’re bringing our popular Happy Lunar New Year celebration to Disney California Adventure park. From February 19–22, we’ll celebrate the “Year of the Sheep” with a joyous tribute to the Lunar New Year, bringing the Paradise Gardens area of the park to life with music, dancing, vibrant red and gold décor, hanging lanterns and more.

Lunar New Year is a multi-day annual tradition observed within the Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures. For those who celebrate it, it is the customary time to reflect on the past and step into a new life of hope, prosperity and happiness.

To commemorate the occasion, guests of all ages are invited to share in a colorful, enriching experience that includes live performances, kid-friendly activities, a daily procession and special appearances by Mulan and Mushu, along with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Chip ‘n’ Dale dressed in their Lunar New Year costumes! You can also look forward to delicious food and event-specific merchandise – including an exclusive T-shirt, pin and set of traditional red envelopes.

This Happy Lunar New Year celebration is going to be filled with joy and community togetherness. It promises to be an event you won’t want to miss!

  • What about Mardi Gras too?

  • Is there going to be a “soft opening” like other events??? When we came in Dec it was “announced” that Frozen was going to start on Jan 7th, but it actually started sooner. We already have our flights booked to fly home on the 19th, but if this is going on one day earlier on the 18th or sooner we would love to go. I wish they had announced this sooner for those who have to make travel arrangements…

  • Why don’t they also have an elaborate celebration in EPCOT too? I was so disappointed last year when I went for CNY.

    • Gloria – Chinese New Year is celebrated at Epcot as part of our annual Holidays Around the World festival.

  • Year of the goat is far better sounding than year of the sheep.

  • Will there be a Live Goat/sheep like last year’s Horse?

    • Alyxandria – There won’t be any live animals as part of the Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure, but you can certainly stop over and visit the friendly little goats at Big Thunder Ranch at Disneyland!

  • I am looking forward to be able to partake in this Celebration!! HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!
