Anyone who has strolled through Fantasyland at Disneyland park knows the familiar double-honk from the Disneyland Monorail as it begins to make its way around the Matterhorn. Its course takes it past some of our classic attractions, and thanks to some clever maneuvering, Disneyland Chief Photographer Paul Hiffmeyer was able to catch these shots of the Disneyland Monorail as it passed “it’s a small world” and Alice in Wonderland.

Which Disneyland Resort attractions are your favorite to spy from aboard the Disneyland Monorail?

  • The first photo was taken over by the old motor boat attraction just across from the Matterhorn, and the second one was taken just outside the que of Alice in Wonderland attraction as the end of the Monorail was rounding the corner of the Matterhorn. All the shots are possible with standard or a zoom lens. Have a Disney day!

  • I would have to say Tomorrowland, it fits so well with the futuristic theming there. On another note Erin, my guess for the next DLR Innovation post is Disney California Adventure. This was the most difficult decade by far! 🙂

  • I love to look into the lagoon at the submarine voyage on my way around the monorail!

  • Very nice! Especially like the Alice in Wonderland one. Do you know if the areas that the photographer stood are accessible to guests in general? I’m not looking to duplicate these particular shots, but it does start the wheels turning on possible projects.

I also wonder if some of these images are using lenses that guests would not be able to bring into the park.
