Star Wars Weekends Take You as Close to the Force as You Can Get

Shawn Slater

We’re nearly halfway through Star Wars Weekends 2015, and the excitement continues to build. This year’s event spreads further across Disney’s Hollywood Studios than ever before, from the celebrity talk shows at Theater of the Stars on Sunset Boulevard to the new Darth’s Mall merchandise complex on Streets of America.

If you’ve got a passion for the Force and credits to burn, Darth’s Mall is the place for you! You’ll never find a more fetching hive of fun and boutiquery (is that even a word?). In addition to the limited edition and event-exclusive items on offer, it’s also packed to the outer rim with stellar décor, props and photo opportunities. Of course, the chances of successfully navigating Darth’s Mall without amassing a Wookiee-size pile of loot are approximately 3,720 to 1!

Your odds of seeing a Star Wars celebrity during the weekend, however, are significantly better. Here is who will be joining us May 29 – 31:

  • Event Host James Arnold Taylor: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars: The Clone Wars; Star Wars Rebels)
  • Warwick Davis: Wald, Wicket (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace; Star Wars: Return of the Jedi)
  • Daniel Logan: Boba Fett (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones; Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
  • Steve Blum: Zeb Orrelios (Star Wars Rebels)
  • Ashley Eckstein: Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars: The Clone Wars; Star Wars Rebels)

Whether you’re picking up “necessities” at Darth’s Mall, scoring an autograph from one of the Star Wars stars or just taking in the sights and sounds, Weekend III of Star Wars Weekends will no doubt provide a day (or days) long remembered.

  • Shawn, my son is bent on wanting the Starspeeder Playset for his birthday (a side effect of our Disney trip many months ago). I spoke with Disney Mail Order and, like you said, there are no more orders for more and I am unable to order one from the service. I’ve been scouring the internet for other sources but, I wondered if you might have ANY other sources or ways for myself to get my hands on one for my son? Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

  • I love that purple Star Wars shirt in the picture. Is that a parks only shirt or can I buy it online?

    • Jessica – I believe that specific shirt is an older style, but Ashley Eckstein has other similar shirts available through her “Her Universe” line.

  • If you are lucky enough to get a celebrity autograph fastpass ticket at SWW, can you get your picture taken with them as well?

    • Yes

  • PS – Fave memory? When R2-D2 rolled right up to me at the parade and started beeping!

    • Trinna – Isn’t he the coolest?!

  • I share your hopes for a permanent Star Wars land. Streets of America has a lot of unused space, plus there’s all the room where the old backlot tour used to be. I hope it’s in the works!

  • Back when the action figure scale Starspeeder was announced, it was hinted that repaints of it could/would be released with the other designs from the ride. Is this still something that you are considering? They could make great SWW exclusives. 😉

    • Craig – Thanks for your comment. I spoke with Steven from the Disney Theme Park Merchandise team. He said there are no immediate plans for additional Starspeeder action figure playsets.

  • SWW is my all time favorite Disney event. So much to see and do for the SW/Disney fan. Rebel Hangar has been an absolute hit for me and my family. We have enjoyed it every weekend. Could this possibly be a permanent thing now, please pretty please with an Ewok on top? I’m still holding on to hope of an announcement of Star Wars land.
