The Rivers of America and the Disneyland Railroad at Disneyland park in Southern California have closed temporarily as we prepare to bring an all-new Star Wars-themed land to the park. When these areas reopen, the north bank of the Rivers of America will have a beautiful new waterfront, which I’m excited to give you a sneak peek at today.

As you can see from this artist’s rendering, courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering, this gorgeous new riverbank will also feature an elevated trestle over which the iconic Disneyland Railroad will travel.

Keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog, as we continue to bring you updates from the ongoing expansion of Disneyland park in California.

  • Complete with rays of sunshine?

  • I was there on Friday and asked a staff member about the screen that was put up around Hungry Bear Restaurant and he stated that right across from the restaurant is where the the island will end after construction. I had no idea so much of it would be taken away! The riverboat ride would sure be a short one if that is true!

  • I can’t wait till see what it all looks like when it done as a Disney stockholder I’m looking forward to see what Disney does in the future and the endless possibilities I’m really excited and Looking forward to it can’t wait the rivers of America look great in the picture it looks fresh and modern

  • @Alex– The Fantasmic show at Disneyland already has some upgrades that Hollywood Studios doesn’t have, like a large audio-animatronic dragon. I don’t know if the Disneyland show necessarily needs upgrades. (Although, any upgrades would not be unwelcomed!)

  • I wonder with the New Rivers of America will see new upgrades to Fantasmic! like its Disney Hollywood Studios counterpart?
